wrong route then passenger anyhow pay

last night took a Japanese man fr Seng Poh road(Tiong Bahru market) to concorde hotel(Orchard road),first time encounter a cheapo Jap,took the exit at Bt Merah,into the CTE/SLE expressway and should have exite at clemenceau but don't know why forgotten so overshot,force to exit at moulmein,passenger not happy,started grumbling.so i tried my best using clemencea av north,but at Newton circus traffic jam,he again grumble.but i try my best and we finally reach destination,but bcos pass thro ERP at cairnhill circle=$1 and furthermore cos of longer route plus jam and peak period,fare came out to $16,i was surprise when he throw me a $5,saying that's the fare he normally paid!and also saying i was responsible for making him late!r we accountable for making passengers late?can the passenger decide how much they can pay the TD?although i took the wrong route but in the end he still reach his destination!

Very far leh....if you miss Clemenceau exit to the next exit....Speechless....
Seng Poh Road to Concorde got better route, leave that to other forumers to comment....
But $5 also too much.....but if really miss that turn and go until so big round....most likely I will offer give free ride......really very long route....no offense.

Locals will give a reasonable rate , foreigners to give u $5 , are insulting you as a cheat .

If i were you , once past Merchant Road exit .... i off meter , print receipt lo .
And pass on to him , i guessed that receipt should be more than $5 .

that means next time if passengers think u take wrong route or routes not to their liking,they can just pay any amount?then what is the meter for?but mine was an honest mistake and i even told him and took the trouble to send him all the way to the hotel!if next time i will just drop off passenger and just say sorry i don't know the route and decline the fare?then in that case 80% of my trips will be forfeited!and i eat grass!

When we make a mistake, just apologise and give discount as deem, not the other way round and said cheapo here and there, just put yourself in pax's shoe, got a business lunch at concorde with a million dollars deal, and you go wrong way, end up he late, how would his customers look at him? Can also be gf or something urgent, as I said thousand and one time, open your mouth and ask, Sir, you got any prefer usual route, once he said chin swee, clemen...you straight away got the idea.
I fully understand some cabbies get brain stuck when a destination is given, but take a while to cool down, ask him, it allow time for both to discuss the route and at the same time, you already think of a route.
So for your above case, it is not the you do not know the route, but you lack focus, once on expressway, your mind relaxed, go blank, and it usually end up missing the right exit, and in singapore expressways, you miss one exit, god bless you.
Focus is important, that is why you need lots of rest, exercise abit and eat properly, that call for discipline, most taxi drivers like to think of expressways, pax said one destination only, they think of expressways, CTE< AYE< ECP OR KPE, and even that, they are also poor in knowing the exit in some expressway, there are still lots of small routes that you can venture and much easier and nearer, this is call skill and competency which need you to venture, guide by pax and see for yourself, once you know all these at your finger tips, you can drive with less pressure and more at ease.

I agree with you, off meter, print receipt and apologise. Then sent him to the actual destination and collect the printed receipt amount. Fair and share. The next time if you at CTE then exit Moumien Road and do a U-turn to CTE and exit Orchard. That will be faster during peak hour. Novena and Newton traffic on peak hour always heavy.

If you already exit Moulmein toward newton, no choice, better use use keng lee road into cavenagh.

I never off meter, once off meter, any accident happen, very hard to answer, just see the price and tell pax this is the final price no matter how long it takes, once reached, apologise, print to let pax claim more if he want to claim, so he happy, I happy and safe

Imagine..... now TS's wife is the one who took the taxi from Seng poh Rd and the driver is another TD...
if the TD insist on his wife paying the S$16 for the taxi fare, think TS will sure come and KPKB also..... seem like TS is very narrow minded....

last time that TD who fetch your wife but forget to on meter also make honest mistake...but you come and complain that TD? now you go wrong /longer route and intend to ask the pax to pay you full fares?

recently my wife took a cab fr Lavender MRT to the People's association,since she don't know it was so near,so TD pretend not to on meter ,reach destination say forget!then ask her to pay any amount,then of cos since she don't have any idea how much she just pay $6!TD quietly accept it,knowing full well,it cost less than $4!these are the dirty tactics use by some experienced TD!

You should know what's the consequence of ferrying a pax without runnning the meter in the event of an accident .

I know of someone here who took a longer route than usual and still demanded the full fare
to all bros and sis, pls don't panic when you go the wrong way.
and never never STOP the meter

Stop the meter , give them the receipt .....
Explain they only need to pay this amount ....
Then on the meter again for CDG , no need say much ..... use your handkerchief cover the meter also can .....
TransCab used K1 K4 also can .....
Premier & Prime print receipt liao , meter still running one ..... until press vacant .
So many patterns can resolve those disputes .
Method is dead one , human brain is alive one
