Hallo everyone,
I want to apply for a position as Bus Captain with SBS Transit.
As I have never worked in Singapore before (I'm from Europe), I have consequently never applied for a position there.
I realize that there's an online application form, but it is NOT encrypted and I don't want to send my personal data halfway around the world 'on a postcard'
So I'd like to apply the 'old fashioned' way: Résumé and covering letter printed on paper.
Does anyone happen to know what the folks at SBS Transit expect a proper application to look like?
Any websites with Singapore-specific job application tips?
Thanks very much

You may want to look here

Applicants usually just walk in to their depot. Prospective BCs would then be given an application form to fill up.
You might want to consider applying for Metroline in London, who belong to the same owner of SBS Transit.

Are you familiar with the side drives here? In Europe all are left handed except UK and Malta though. Down here is right handed.

Well, I'll probably be in Singapore in October, so I can apply in person. Hopefully they'll still be looking for BCs by then ...

I should be able to adjust to driving on the other side of the road ...

I did e-mail them. They wrote that they'd not be allowed to employ Europeans. But when I called MOM, they said that there were no restrictions. So I'll try anyway.

They are always looking for BCs all year round.

If there is enough BCs @ SBST, you could still choose SMRT (: there are also wide variety of buses in their fleet too, including the bendy buses that SBST doesnt have.

Hi, welcome to Singapore. It is rather rare to have someone from Europe here to be interested in driving public buses here.
SBS Transit is always hiring drivers all the time, so no worries that they stop recruitment. But I think you need certain time for training as the driving conditions and orientation is different from Europe.
SBS Transit will provide new drivers orientation trainings so as to let them familiarise the operations of driving public buses and driving conditions as well. Moreover SBS Transit gives more time allowances for their BCs so that they can deliver a safer and more punctual bus trips to the passengers.
I really look forward to see you driving our double decker buses, which is an iconic bus model in Singapore for many years. Hopefully in the eastern side of Singapore.

I've got quite a bit of experience with articulated buses.
