hey!
i have this interest of making a short video or something like that.. i was in video editing club too! but that sch of mine did not teach much and i feel that the whole club only i have the interest to make a video or something like that...
yea, since i am quite ignorant about all these, i hope you guys can teach or rather tell me any free software around that can help in making video.
so far, i have been very comfortable and very used to using windows movie maker, but of cuz if there is a program similiar with more functions would be best. also i am really looking for some ppl to teach me how to make "characters" or some "moving pictures" or any program related to video...
i want to know more about how they make anime, cartoons, short clip or something like that... well i do have a great interest in these, but i don't intend to make it as my career...
anyway, is there ppl who has similar interest as me? filming and video making... also, i hope someone can introduce or teach me how to use and what to use, as in programs...
please share your views with me
Thanks
IA
I use Cyberlink Powerdirector and sony vegas
Cyberlink powerdirector is much more easier to use than sonyvegas becos i tink it is made for intermediate video editing users, the new powerdirector 8 comes with many features like video denoise, audio denoise, stabilizers, particle effect room, and they make video editing easier for users like me who is not very good in producing films
Wheras on the other hand, sony vegas seems to be catered to those more experienced users for more powerful video editing
Do you have facebook? I did a 'trailer' for my class's stuff(nt a school project), using powerdirector and sony vegas(use it for the night vision effect)
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=129286805255&ref=mf
and the following is done purely on powerdirector, only the front part of the video is nice:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=130217705255
One of the sample episode is here:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=130572285255
The above video are nt available on my utube acc becos of some copyright thingy(acc will get deleted if i get caught 2 more times)
anyway, i also do some filming(part of my interest also), the facebook videos are filmed and edited by me

Powerdirector is a paid software, but the good thing about this is there is an online community called director zone whereby u can share created formats or frames for video, or for dvd menu design

hey which Sony Vegas version do u use? i use 5.0.
just to add on again. since my post are stuck together..
windows movie maker now got many function thing for download... go search for it... looks good tho!
Try this tool called:
VirtualDub Mod.
A lot of editing methods in there.....
You can play around, it's very simple, straightforward, linear, small sized, and will give you a good basis of editing skills.
It's also very flexible.....
It's open source.... and has a lot of add-on tools also...
I was once a fanatic and I ran a lot of editings......my favourite was removing logos (like the TV logo on top corner), compressing with H.264, joining and splitting, audio editing, switching formats, etc.

I think any editing "run" will incur quality loss....
Edit and save.....everytime you save, the quality will be lost....
So if you save, edit, save, edit, save, edit.....by the 10th time the loss is quite a lot.
Basically I try to minimize saving.....and whenever possible, I choose H.264 format with some settings.
