hm.. typically, a lot of companies are not happy about taking people from stat boards cos the stat board people are usually into routine stuff..
of course, to every "absolute" statement like this, there are exceptions. just make sure you go to a job where you can learn and grow lor, else you will be wasting your time.
your income steady refer to a lot of pay or job security?
Juz surious.. how is the market outside? i.e. wat AOF have a higher pay than the rest... watever...
Its the "empolyee's market" now, so you should not have to worry about pay.
in addition, the way NUS trains the undergrads now, you people should be able to fit into almost any company without any problem.
"typical" skills like software engineering should get you a good job. joining a startup when you are a fresh grad can get you the exposure that you will need, esp to the integration of the multitudes of technology that are out there now.
of course, it will be more siong, but you get to learn a lot more.
in the actual work market, employers like to see 2 things:
1. maturity and responsibility
2. good attitude
one of the prime questions that employers would like to ask is "what do you think of the lecturers/teachers at school" or "what do you think of your ex-employers". How you express yourself - whether you speak objectively or just use a personal point of view and hurl abuses - all these will be used as a gauge of your maturity level and attitude.
thus it becomes very important to be able to critise and evaluate objectively without using getting personally involved.
hope these tips help.
