Why the price difference for different software?

I just came back from rounding Sim Lim Square today. And I just noticed the price for dreamweaver - it was like .. *gasp* $599 dollars, close to six hundred actually, and this is Sim Lim Square, just imagine if it were sold any where else.
Anyway, My qualm is this, Diablo 2 also came out, and at Sim Lim, it was sold at around $49 dollars which made me think, why the obscene amount of difference?
Firstly, Diablo 2 took longer and needed more programming whilst Dreamweaver is like an update from the original.
I know that I probably sound naggy right now, but this situation is really unfair to the home users that wish to experiment with the different type of software that is available. I mean yes, there *are* 30 day evaluation program but it's just the situation that will bring us back to square one. Eventually, home user would have to pay teh full price if they wish to keep the software program.
Sigh~~ And and they want us to become a Lemming overnight ...Grumble grumble -
then don't buy the expensive one lor

Haha .. Oh come on, then what you are implying is that we, whom cannot afford it, are obliged to be stiffled by the situation!
Thats totally unfair for people who wish to experiment around and see which program are the best to be used.
Sigh ... I just might as well use microsoft paint. Double Dohz -

Application software is for productivity work while Diablo II is just for fun. So thus the differences.
If you want, you can always go to macromedia site to download the evaluation software. If not, and you don't mind using pirated software, you can go to warez site to download, but that will be too long. Or perhaps you can get it from friends who have the pirated copy.

Hmmm productivity tools you say? I just flipped through a copy of 'personal computing world' magazine and I saw the price for adobe photoshop ... 120 pounds ... visual J++ 40 pounds ...
(people kicking their PC's in desperation .. priceless ...)
Anyway. care to comment about this, Ande? Both are productivity tools and both of them are pretty solid programs
