Orientation Day

This goes out to all those involved, you know who you are...
8th of July, that's when a whole lot of cao recruits will arrive in school for the sole purpose of joining our Bowling Club.
So who's going to give the speech this time round? Traditionally, it's the Prez, right? Zun boh???
I think we should jazz up the booth a bit, last year's wasn't very, uh... crowd-pulling.
Yes everyone's busy, that's why i'm bringing it up now, we have about 2 weeks.
Actual setting up of the booth on 5th July, 1300 to 1630.
Please respond you guys, let's not drag this longer than we should.

I suggest we do that demostration of the path of a hooking ball like what Chevrons did for their teachers' seminar. Those who bowled there that day should recall.
Each just loan out their balls n those who keep pins maybe can lend out their prized possessions too. Think it might be more interesting than using house ball.
Can try asking Hisham to lend us those info that was on display that day. Should be able to stir up a better response.
Just a suggestion.

what on earth are you saying about houseballs?? It's a booth made of tables, not at the alley. How on earth are you going to throw a ball in the MPH? -

That would beat the other booth displays hands down. But... i don't think admin will give us 40 feet of floor space
Alternatively, we can draw the path of the ball on paper and put it up on a stand. Get what i mean? It's not as impressive as tit@n's idea, but it conveys the same message. Can borrow hisham's idea too, displaying the evolution of the bowling ball, from rubber to particle.
Ian, do you think we can borrow the props used at the opening of chevrons? -
If i had gotten my DVcam, then we could have created a montage of footage of bowling and all the other fun activities that the club engages in. Could use a laptop or small television screen to draw attention AND keep it.
It could still work with a regular camera, just that the footage cannot be edited, that's all. Food for thought. -
Have any chalet not? still waiting ..Should ve right .,.orientation chalet..surlyone.best ah., An orientation chalet is a must for the following reasons..to boost the mental interconnectedness and psychological bonding betweent the new members of the club and to promote greater awareness amongst the club members.
Such is a ritual conducted in the good faith of the placid and lucid enviroment around the chalet. To enhance a deeper physiological understanding betweent the inner mind and the outer regions of the body's metamorphis state...ah yes...need me to elaborate more...jus get me there when the time comes and we will boogie....surlyone.

the laptop's a great idea..anyone can provide footage and the top? we need to flim some stuff straight away then.. how about during aleague or stuff? i tinka laptop will do better and we use our balls display is..well sufficient... chevrons..wat do u need? i can try requesting..

We dun need the exact 40 feet length. Make the best of what we are allocated. The idea is just to show them how a ball moves toward the head pin.
The display is meant to make our booth more interesting and attract.
No one is talking about throwing a ball in the MPH. Its just about displaying the path that is dotted with our own bowling balls. Pins are optional.
Think harmzuay wasn't there that day.

Ian, anything you can get your hands on! In this case, more IS better.
Try to do it soon ok? Have to arrange the transportation. We can shift everything on the 5th itself, as long as we're sure of what we're getting. -

I thought you were referring to the session that Chevrons had while we were practicing for the SIM/NUS classics. I saw them stack pins on the lane and throw a single ball at the deck for the 'trainees', so i assumed that was what you were referring to. -

This year's sign-up response is actually not too bad. More ladies than guys. That should pull more people in; just think how 'ladies night' at clubs work.
Tentatively having a bowling session with the freshies next wednesday, cathay bowl orchard, 2pm. This is not the orientation bowl, just a prelude to it.[/b] -

next Wed orchard bowl. i will be getting 6-8 lanes for all the juniors and the current SIM pple. anymore of our old birds wanna come see see look look and for once stare at the more gals then guys signup pls do tell me in advance.

i do hope pple do come down and look look. for the yr3s and 2s. i hope u can make it. tink of it as a training session for the IVP. long time nvr bowl together liao. back to training happy days -

hey guys, think the newbies will be having their orientation camp on the 16th -18th july...so may i suggest changing the get-together-bowling session on the 20th instead, so that those who went for the camp will not be burnt out....any objections??
