The Cherry Bomb works like Belu and Wongsy with their Red Fuze...goes long and snap hard.Actually, there are a lot of people that don't understand the word "snap" in bowling parlance. There are many types of hook, each with it's distinct shape, be it a curve, arc, hard arc, et cetera.
Skid snap is a term I still hear James, my pro shop driller use. The lao-jiao bowlers will still prefer the old terms like finger weight... etc.. Skid snap is a drilling which maximises finger weight for skid and side weight for snap.Originally posted by harmzuay:Actually, there are a lot of people that don't understand the word "snap" in bowling parlance. I often hear many people say, "... drill my ball to skid/snap...".
It makes me want to cringe.
Here's the truth, styles and hooks like Ian's are hard arcs. I think the only person in Singapore who can come remotely close to snapping a bowling ball is Shaun Ng. There is a very angled shape at the break point, not even a hard or sharp arc.
That's just F.Y.I.

Quantum balls were manufactured by Brunswick. So you may want to try their other offerings under different names such as the recent Fuze of Monster lines.
Just keep in mind what Nick said: impact, revolutions and hook are only dynamic elements of the game that involve the proper matching of bowler style and equipment to the proper lane conditions. Under some conditions, even a houseball can provide all the hook, impact and revolutions you require.
Shop for a ball with which you can do what you intend, not what the ball is advertised to do for you.
Remember: In the end, you control the ball. It doesn't control you.![]()
Hmm......yr name sounds familiar. Are you the one who used to train under mike lam and henry tan at jackies bowl?Originally posted by OR|G|N|ck:Revolution would still depend on the individual. Normally he doesn't, but for the taiwan cgu open, he does. Prata, do u have that video? maybe can take a look?Originally posted by harmzuay:I don't regard Remy Ong as a "snap" type of bowler. The way he releases the ball does not make it possible. He's a strong arc bowler.
To make a ball skid and snap is to create a hook shape the americans term the "hockey stick" shape. For those who have seen any hockey sticks before, this is a very strong imagery. A strong arc may look awesome to asians, and because of that many of us who see a very aggressive hook simply call it a skid/snap shot.
The fact is, the best of us are only strong arc bowlers. Shaun Ng doesn't get on television anymore. But i'm sure some of you know who zulmazran zulkifli is. On his form, he is what i regard as a strong arc bowler. Not a skid/snap.
Of course, lane conditions allow for certain shots to be played. But personally, i believe the bowler is still the largest input into the shape of the subsequent shot. For instance, Robert Smith plays skid/snap whether or not he plays the first three boards or lofts over the left gutter. He is the exception, not the rule.![]()
Slightly OT here but ar which shops can I find a Cherry Bomb and how much they go for?Originally posted by OR|G|N|ck:Revolution would still depend on the individual. However, why not try Lane #1 bowling balls? For more information about Lane #1, visit www.lane1bowling.com OR contact me @96808624.
