People that know me know this about me: warm up. Always warm up. I can never stress this enough.
Although bowling is not as physical as contact sports like basketball or football, it is not as easy on the body as you think. Which other sport in the world requires the athelete to counterbalance up to 16 pounds on one side of their body while standing on one leg, trying to accuately hit a one-inch target 15 feet or more down the lane consistently?
In fact, i think stretching is even more important in bowling than some more "physical" sports because in bowling, muscles are used in a explosive fashion.
Anyone who works out or knows about muscles should be able to explain this better Basically, it calls for a instant, short and intense burst of strength, much like weight-lifting does. And the consequences for not being properly warmed-up can be more horrible than that of other sports where one can warm up slowly.
As for the type of exercise to do, simple ones are those for the wrist, lower and upper arms, shoulders, chest, back, waist, thigh, ankle and calf.
