Every club and society in SIM is supposed to come up with topics for seminars slash talks slash workshops to be held in the near future.
Sooo... pitch in.
Okay I'll start.
"Why everyone in SIM should join the Bowling Club."
No, seriously. -
Chuan, what is this seminar/talk/workshop about? Is it held internally among SIM clubs & societies?
I have a few... How to make (name of a place eg SIM or the world) into a better place
Terrorism in SIM/S'pore/Boon Lay/Jurong/ChoaChuKang/Pasir Ris/Orchard etc.??
Education system... does it prefer IQ or EQ?
come on fellas...... keep ideas flowing!

can we just get harmzuy in to talk 4 hrs about the dynamics of bowling? we pay him the speakers rates SIM is giving...hehe then we split the loot..

These talks are meant for the student body i think. We come up with 2 topics and organise some admin related stuff, nothing too heavy.
You know what would be helpful, go look at past issues of that monthly SIM newsletter you get---yes the one you don't bother to read---and get pointers from existing seminars.
ODAC and SRC have submitted their entries, something about OBS, personal grooming, blah blah blah... -
"How to study & score well for exam"
This is the aim every student has in mind.
The problem is how to make use of techniques and brain memories.
Wish that all the seminars do not clash with exam periods otherwise deem useless to students of SIM. -

btw does anyone know what are the specific clubs and societies exist in SIM?
I always see a table and a small crowd of people gathering outside the cafeteria for invitation to disco/dance. Really wonder are there invitation to other kinds of activities.
Futhermore, there's no information pertaining to the activities(if exist) except Bowling Club on this forum and SIM membership newsletter. Sound as if SIM students are very hardworking in studies and working. Kinda boring.

There's no need for any other clubs because the bowling is comprehensive enough in providing all after-acedemic pursuits. :p :p It's more than just bowling, its a place where camaraderie and friendship are the backbone of the club.
Seriously, I think there's a netball club, as well as some pool/billiards thingy. -

It's funny not realising clubs in SIM exist comparing to other sch/U.
A pity I don't know how to play bowling and have no interests in bowling.

There's ODAC,SRC,CF,BOWLING,SOCCER.
If you guys have been to Orientation this year, I am sure you would discover some along the way
BTW if no clubs, make some!!

Hi Ding, what are these ODAC,SRC,CF? Mind telling me?
Orientation? My orientation was held last June and it's just walking around in the building, showing us where's the library and cafeteria and telling what're the procedures in the library. That's all to my orientation. Short and quick, so sad. ): -

These are SIM/UOL clubs/societies that I remember... me graduated 2 years ago. Not sure whether still have a music&dance club.
Some more...... netball, used to have a basketball.
They should be still holding soccer,netball,badminton,bowling competitions
Start some clubs......wait, there's a KOI POND outside the library...... how about fishing club?? rent out the pond for students to relax(fishing) after K-ing in the library. Just present your ideas to Admin

Ding, there are turtles/terrapins/tortoises in the pond too. Sometimes, they crawl on to the pavement for a sun tan. Don't think they get to do that much; it just takes up too much effort and too much time, not to mention incredible reserves of perseverance while being koi-jeered the whole time.
And when it finally accomplishes this seemingly impossible mission, somebody walks by, goes "Oh... you poor little guy!" and tosses it back into Koi-ghetto.

Btw it's a good joke about the koi pond by chuanish. Besides, it seems to represent the hard work and struggle in life.
I've not encountered any tortoise on the pavement yet. I should open my eyes wide to prevent any "unfortunate killing" kekeke....
On the other hand, I have encountered a koi fish swimming/jumping up high in the air from the koi pond once and landed with a loud splash that attracted attention of whoever nearby. Oops! What a wonderful life they lead. -
wow EVER ! u mean June last year or this year? i just went this yr.. 13th june.... yea same thing as u said... just talk and tour library.... handicapped..

A word fits the description: Meaningless ):
We can find our way in and out of the building by ourselves with "idiot-free" signs. "Where's the cafeteria" etc. hehehe.....
However, I do admit that an orientation at the library is quite useful.
Wonder whether the clubs/societies in SIM conduct orientation. Very quiet and less action seen. You saw/heard any? I know there's always a table with a small crowd outside the cafeteria. ::
I have some suggestions to the club/society leaders as follows:
1. Put up notice at a requested specific board during the first week of class with permission from SIM management.
2. Request a small section of the shelf near the security guards post for pamphlets.
3. Assign members to spread/write out the message in lecture halls/rooms before the lecturer comes in.
4. Request to post some messages on the membership activities newsletter.

Ever, you guys may not see us as often because we're UOL-based. We may be SIM/UOL Bowling Club in name, but RMIT students are more than welcome to join our activities. In fact, bowlers from our RMIT counterpart have taken part in joint competitions.
Didn't you notice our posters? Damn i knew they weren't far-reaching enough. Thing is, admin restricts posters to certain areas only, like the canteen, outside lifts, notice boards, etc.
We do display information in the students' newsletter, but it really depends on how frequent it's published. i think it's a quarterly issue. Publishing info in the membership activities newsletter...hmmm that's worth consideration, thanks for the tip!
