Oh dude, don't take it so hard on yourself. I thought that on many shots your ball release was really excellent! Just that I think you chose the wrong line on several occasions.
But hey, learn from the exp, next league outing I'm sure you'll do better! -
We managed to get 12 of 20 points. I think the team did pretty alright this time round!
I got 2, Ding got all 4, Jae had 3, and we won 2 games plus overall for the total of 12.
Next week we face 2nd place "Ridway Marine" or something like that. They are full of powerhouses, including female national spinner Alice Tay. Anyway, 3 of the team members have been confirmed:
1) James Shi
2) Jay Peter Soong
3) Kevin Phua
The bowler to join them will be confirmed at a later date. Looks like we're all playing back into form again. -
Yup, I think that Tom's release is alright. Just that he is still not too sure which line to play hence lowering his confidence. In bowling, confidence is of utmost importance. well, me going to work on my release later...dunno where...
with the timing tape, my thumb is fitting, but the exposed areas of the thumb "sticks" to the thumb plug.
without the timing tape, my thumb hole is slightly loose(thumb comes out with no worries) and when it gets sticky on the sticky side, i can always use the tissue trick and cold air on thumb method.
so i dunno to use, or not to use timing tape.
or change to insert tape but i have not tried insert tape before, may feel weird.

P1 think you shd get yourself a grip sac or puff ball to dry your hands the proper way..dunno if you are still using the talcum powder with the saf green powder bottle..
if you are, strongly advice you to change..cos once your hand starts to perspire again, the talcum wd make your hands even 'stickier'. I have that experience before which caused my thumb to stuck too.
I have an extra puff ball now..see if you wd like to have it. show it to you next trg session. -

just that the dry scaly skin (from bowling) tends to become hard and smooth during the process of bowling and it sticks to the ball. The underside of it is not hard, and this part becomes sticky from sweat and stick to the ball. so its 2 areas of my thumb to look out for. and because of thumb swelling/contracting, sometimes the thumb does not create problems, sometimes 1 side gives problems. Like yesterday, the hard and smooth part gave problems.... -

i solve my problem!!!! went to bowl just now 7 games total...
from first throw, i tried the "think at home and come with solution" trick. IT WORKED! and i used it all the way...very consistent!
7 games, had avg 158!!!!!
had a high game of 196, and my last game 184, NO OPEN FRAME.
no 7 pin loner waiting to be spared!!!
I'm so happy....worked it out liao!
its all with my stupid backswing man......i'm forcing it down, so causing release problems. i let it come down by itself, and just work on feeling the thumb out and extend my hand and. Elbow auto unlock, watch the ball go into 1-2 or 1-3...WOOHOOO!
try in training again. If it works wonders, I'm almost there...
but my thumb got a blood clot...think i put my timing tape wrongly though. hahahah!!! HAPPY!!!! -

Let's see it during the next league, when the pressure's on. Doing something in practice and doing something in league (when you have to wait a long time for your turn) isn't the same. The challenge is to keep mentally focused, and be able to produce the goods when your turn arrives.
Once again, let me re-iterate that I think you have a truly wonderful release (when your thumb doesn't get caught). Very clean, very smooth and revvy, too! Nice Hard to believe that's a release/shot of a rookie. -
