Hi.. i'm learning how to spin and shopping for my first ball.. ytd i came across a package dat offers white dot, a bag and bowling shoes(dexter i tink) for $155.
Cos i'm still kinda new in buying balls.. just wanna hear if this is a good deal?
Every shop has some form of beginners' package of sorts. In fact, I think the price of $155 is rather high. Perhaps your shoes will be of better quality to warrant the price.
It's a good place to start, but don't expect the shoes to last forever.
hm.. i find it slightly ex as well.. but i did abit of shopping, and this is the cheapest i can find.. btw, anyone knoes wats the price of a white dot? (just the ball only)
Normally a WD is $100 with everything thrown in (inserts, thumb slugs and drilling), provided of course you drill the ball in the pro shop which you purchased it in.
Hook bowlers who start with these packages usually find themselves needing a higher end ball later on, therefore downgrading the polyester to a spare ball.
Question: Isn't it cost-ineffective for a spinner to start with a polyester and then upgrade to another, since both balls typically do the same thing? I mean, wouldn't the polyester be left on the bench after the upgrade?
Ye know,
I kinda agree with Chuan on this. Normally pro shops offer packages which either includes a plastic/polyester ball, or a low end reactive like the Scout, or Tornado.
A polyester to me is much more important to a hook bowler than a spinner anyhow.
Both ways, for a rookie spinner, the only risk I can see is having the ball backup (if not thrown fast enough) or hook (If spun wrongly) a little bit more than a polyester would give you.
I mean, why not go for the slightly better ball at just a slightly higher price? I think you normally pay about 30 - 35 bucks more for the reactive package.
But hey, I'm looking at it from a hook bowler point of view, so please correct me if I am wrong.
