so sorrie i can't do breakdown or league sessin breakdown as well as prata did with changi league...first lack of knowledge...next, lack of energy....hope u all dun get pissed..but if so, voice it out then i try my best...
first two weeks we r facing not so strong teams..3rd and 4th r strong teams...got a lineup liao...both kevins are activated sine they can't play later....the rest..keep in suspense till i reach home tonight...eheh sorrie...
did jordan collect money from u all? sorrie last night the sleep bug hit me n had nap from 7 to 9pm...wake up inertia to go...but u all had good time without this laopok captain ard..so guess presence not missed..heeh heng heng...

It's ok without the detailed breakdown. Just keep pace with the league and know each of the bowler's strength and weakness as the league proceed

However, Assistant Chef(prata section) would sound classier and nicer -
How do you tell which are the stronger teams? The league is only two weeks old, so telling from handicaps isn't a consistent reflection. Unless you know most of the bowlers there?

Oh, I tell by looking at their team total pinfalls. It should give a good indication
Teams with total pinfalls of 2300 or 2400 & above are definately strong(Sam Goh's team is one of them). Guess there's only two teams in this range, judging from the first week's game.
Our team got 2100+ hence we are 8th(think 5th-8th all 2100+ series). -
We won 2 team games, plus overall team series. = 3 points, no?
9 individual and 3 team points = 12 mah? -
Oh, I see... Prata, think you are mistaken. The 2nd team game(that u tot we won) is in scratch pinfalls. We won by 7 pinfalls.
However not sure how the total will come up to if HDPs are included.

They round DOWN for handicap?!

For example, we have Kevin Phua's upgraded avg at 175 flat, which gives us 12.5..... and they gave us 12 for this week.
In Katong/Changi/Jackies, it goes to 13, rounded up. But 12 here? Hmm...

5 mins later.... ok, just called Classic Bowl. Shariff's not in. The person who picked up the call doesn't know if they round it up or down. Hmmmm I'll find out tomorrow and work it all out. -

Yup, that's my view all along...... never change from a hook play to spin and vice versa during a league game. I'll keep trying but the lanes there are very feisty, the least to say so.
Have u seen any bowler in a team event do this during international meet There must be a good reason to this right diff release, timing, footwork,aim.... etc etc
Bowlers must remember that league play is not an individual event. What u do affect the team(not to say opponent will be in high moral when u fumble). People like me will be affected immersely......
I have never seen a bowler do better than what he could have if he didn't play a fool(yes, really a fool

One may get strikes in the beginning but believe me, as the game wears on, when u miss an easy spare, self doubt and self questioning will set in and kill your mental game.
Well, we all learn everday on the lanes, don't we
Remember, one can never have the time to make all the mistakes in life and then learn from it. Hence we've gotta learn from other people's mistake.

i know or can estimate the strength of the teams coz some of them r from previous leagues in classic with the same team members..they r the old timers of classic bowl...i've been told this info by shariff during the captain's meeting....we were suppose to face sam goh's team in the first week but wanted us to hv a better start so we did some swopping....
ding: will try to keep pace with strengths and weaknesses of bowlers..but am rather absentminded...=P

Got it sorted out with Classic.
Apparently, they round up from .51 onwards. Anything with .5 and below is rounded down. So with Phuasters 12.5, it was deemed to have rounded down to 12.
If he had 12.51 then it would 13, so on and so forth.
In this case think we did get 12 points then, although we won the overall pinfall by just a few pins. We'll find out soon enough, won't we?
Anyway, by my calculations, updated handicaps are as follows:
Jordan: 18
David: 17
Yvonne: 16
Kevin Phua: 15
Dinghua: 13
Kevin Ng: 11 -

Here goes:
Dryer on the outsides, wetter or longer in the middle 15-ish boards. Couldn't really tell if it was a slight christmas or simply heavier oil the middle. What was certain was you could get much more hold simply by playing across the middle part of the lane. This is not a lane with "long oil".
The backends didn't exactly qualify as "flying", but there was certainly a decent amount of it, until the latter part of the second game. A more inside line didn't work because my ball couldn't eat through the carrydown. Playing too far outside, on the other hand, caused my ball to roll up early, going in flat through the nose, or, leaving silly flat 10s.
Here's my stand. You can certainly start from deep, but you've got to cut down on your speed, else you're going to squirt through the break point. If you start from outside, You've got to keep the speed up! And abandon it altogether after the first 15 frames. It'll simply roll up too quick. A nice line between 13-18 at the arrows was comfortable for me. Too bad I only found that out after league. A polished ball would be nicer to use than pearls outright or dull ones.
For Kevin Phua, he had great length with his Super Power from deep, but the backend was uncontrollable because of a combination of his semi spinner release and the ball starting the break too late (very flippy). For him, he had to send it really way out yet be very careful on his speed. He abandoned the outside line early.
Overall, not a difficult pattern, but at times unpredictable and more than a little patchy. It doesn't help that they oil it early and people bowl on it for about 1.5 more hours before league actually begins.
