I think the bowlers did really well, considering the quality of the field. The koreans are good, let alone on homesoil; taiwanese are always consistent; the middle-eastern players are very good too. I think the squad was only expected to medal, but not many would have given them a chance for gold.
I have to admit, when i heard the results of Remy's gold in the singles, I thought the rest had a bad day. But upon hearing the scores, I think he was outstanding.

The award of ¼-million dollars sounds a lot, and it is. But it has always been that way to incentivise sports over studies locally. Unfortunately, many parents still do not see the merits. *sigh*
We have to have an open mind because some may think that's too much money for a single feat. Bearing in mind all the work all the atheletes put in that we do not see, I think it's well-deserved. Afterall, the SSC doesn't pay professional atheletes well at all. (Full-time bowlers get about $2000 a month for "allowance", the last I heard. With the financial problems STBC have been having, I guess that wouldn't change much.)
Last note: I think the bodybuilders did just as well, if not better, than the bowlers.

Theirs is the kind of training that really breaks both mind and spirit. Well done to them.
