Friends or foe?

I know there is always betting going on in any competition, tournament and league. Sometimes this betting is even between teammates during a league or tourney. And I've seen bowlers in league teams who watch their teammate struggle and offer nothing in the way of advice nor help.
Betting with the opponent is one thing, but does anyone here ever witnessed or done something like this before? -

, i am one of those who bet amongst friends..e.g: $2 pool, but not during league games cos u would adding extra stress onto ur team mate and it won't be nice.
But then again, there are some bowlers who excel when bowling for money, their average seems to increase with the amount that they bet. i guess some bowlers need to relax and others need the stress to shoot high scores...
But one thing fer sure, i hate bookies!!
especially when they stand behind ur lanes and u are on the approach and they start shouting out the bets taken... damn distracting...
i mean they can bet if they want but dun disturb the BOWLERS!!! and they tend to smoke there too... sigh.... -

So far had not encounter bookie standing behind me while i bowl lah...coz i bowl at cine leisure, no bookies there.
As for betting amg friends, yes, i guess if everyone is game for it, why not? As long as its a friendly bet and everyone's fine abt it, I for it loh

report them if they smoke cause no smoking is allowed. Send them to jail or fine them
To Harm's question, think I witnessed that before but don't think it's because of selfish reasons...... those old birds should be able to handle it themselves

sigh... part of life... u should see the bookies all behind me at eastside. they will bet only one thing when i bowl. pin 10... u should hear them... Lane 15 ar.. pin 10 gor zhap kor! mai tu lar! pa qiuw liao! yi da bai pin 10 eh mah!

It's usual practice for teammates to help one another out. But the issue is, some people rather watch a teammate sink than help. In other words, the person is placing his/her money and personal ego ahead of the team's goals.
What good is it to beat your teammate 267-265 when the team loses? -
Actually, I think much of it depends on the mental aspect of the bowlers, who ask them to bet $50 or large amounts of money?? play something that one can afford to lose w/o complains lor.. then later winner buy supper. then everyone no win no lose, everyone happy. of course to us all, the team is more important....... but hey, if really can bowl 267-265 but still lose to the other team, lose oso nvm. Well, u can't win all the time can you
