Hey guys, the new training grounds for SIM is at safra resort. its now confirmed and training starts on the 2nd wk of june.
I am currently also discussing wif the snackbar lady about providing us lunch after our trainings as the food sold by the Resort is rather expensive and tasteless. i need to noe ur preferences and the no. of pple who want to share in the food. so far, i tink she is willing to prepare fired chickenwings sausages,rice,chicken stew,hotdogs and fries
for our lunches(not all at one go, diff menu every week) the price is rather reasonable at about 3.5-4.5 per head. i am still trying to cut the price down, but i would rather noe ur response then go on discussing wif her. pls put a post here so i noe the amount of pple agreeable and pple who are actually coming for training. -

Saw Hsieh Yu Ping (the Chinese Taipei spinner who won the CGU Malaysian bowling tour, featured on the front page) on TV today, DAMN he should be kicked out of the tourney, that big cheat... used a scotch pad to modify the surface of his ball... altering the surface of your ball during a tourney is ILLEGAL!!! Appeal filed by the competition, but it was waved off.
Worst still, he made a clean sweep of all 3 titles, Men's Champion, High Game and Tourney of Champions winner... ;(
Where's the quality control in the game man... even televised tourneys can't be organised properly.

Actually,
I am still in NS, but I am in an 8 to 5.30 capacity, so can bowl at night. I am actually 23 years old this year lor. Been bowling sporadically over the past few years, but want to bowl on a more regular basis. Hoping to learn more from you folks! I use 15 lb weight, sometimes with hand guard, sometimes without. -
Yar, can come join us and have some fun. Dun worry, bowling club ppl are real friendly, we even have our own EST man, how outstanding is that...

Quantum, haven't you been bowling regularly? Once a week is enough for me, for now. Saw the new Ebonite Optyx at Ken's shop today, $430. The Trauma, which I'm thinking of getting is $330, 'special' SIM prices... :p

Have seen the balls mentioned in action, although being an avid Ebonite fan. Yes, in fact, I only throw Ebonite. Have 4 of them in use.
The Trauma skids nicely to about midlane before setting off in a massive roll and angles strong into the pocket. Be warned, this ball needs a nice or at least somewhat fresh backend to work it's magic. Else it weakens a lot trying to cut thru carrydown.
As for the Optyx, as I use it I will let you know. -

prataman, you got the Optyx?? Damn...it looks good.
Yea, did my homework on the Trauma... when the lanes dry up, I have trouble finding an alternative line coz my urethane Shadow overhooks. SO I'm hoping the Trauma can provide that extra skid, especially at our new league venue SAFRA Yishun, where the backend's quite decent.
By the way, what other Ebonites do you use, Don't tell me you got the Apex too...
Quantum, nah haven't got my hands on it yet, still considering where to get it from. Have to wait for a part-time job to finance it too! -
Ok,
Tried the Optyx out last night on a wet wet condition. Not good. Too much over under. Over reacts when sent near the pocket, going thru the nose, and under reacts when sent out. Can't drive back in. However, it displays a great rev rate going into the pocket. But like the Trauma, it needs a good clean backend. Better stick to my Apex on a wet condition.
But I think I have it drilled wrong. I mean, I drilled the Apex for length. Weird.
By the way, me a power stroker with, med to high speed and medium revs. -
A couple of weeks ago at Victor's, 2 PWBA ladies had an exhibition match, Cathy Dorin and Cara Honeychurch... they were using the Optyx and Apex, promoting Ebonite stuff at the same time... that was the first time I saw it in action
Hope you'll find a right balance for your Apex, it'll be painful to waste a good ball
Err...I think I'm more of a tweener, low revs, more pro-roll, rolling is the only way I can get the ball to hook since I lack power in the shot -
