RULES AND REGULATIONS

Check-in: 0930 hrs
Roll-off: 1000 hrs

Closing Date for entries 9th December 2004
Entry is on a first come first serve basis, and institutions are advised to register early as vacancies are limited. The organizers reserve the right to limit the number of teams, or to reject applications if the quota is exceeded.
Confirmation will be issued to successfully registered teams by 9th December 2004.
1.0 Objectives:
1.1 To foster and promote goodwill and sportsmanship amongst the bowlers in the bowling fraternity.
1.2 To promote and improve the standard of bowling among Tertiary Institutions in Singapore.
2.0 Rules:
2.1 STBC and FIQ playing rules and regulations shall apply throughout this tournament.
3.0 Eligibility:
3.1 This tournament is open to all students of SIM (UOL/RMIT)
3.2 This tournament is by invitation only; all students of the invited institutions may participate.
3.3 Female bowlers will receive a handicap of 10 pins per game throughout the tournament
3.4 A maximum of 5 teams from each institution may apply.
4.0 Entry Fees:
4.1 S$75.00 per team of three (S$25 per bowler).
4.2 Fees may be paid in cash on the day of competition.
5.0 Attire:
5.1 Bowlers must be appropriately and modestly attired.
5.2 Men – Polo T-shirt and slacks
5.3 Ladies – Polo T-shirt and skirt or Bermudas.
6.0 Format:
6.1 This is a team event and is open to all SIM bowlers and invited teams. Bowlers will form teams of 3 (trios) and bowl 5 games each. Female bowlers will be given a handicap of 10 pins per game while all male bowlers will receive no handicap. The total pinfall after 5 games for every bowler in the team will count towards the total team pinfall. There will be no changing of lanes throughout the whole event.
7.0 Tie-breaker:
7.1 Should there be a tie in total scratch scores, the bowler with the least difference between his/her highest and lowest games shall be declared higher ranking.
8.0 Bowling Balls:
8.1 If at any time a player is found to have used an illegal ball, he/she will be disqualified from the tournament and stripped of all his/her winnings.
8.2 It is the bowlerÂ’s responsibility to verify that all his/her equipment conforms to FIQ regulations.
9.0 Bowling on the Wrong Lane:
9.1 When a bowler has bowled on the wrong lane and the error is discovered before another bowler has bowled, a dead ball shall be declared and the bowler will be required to re-bowl that frame on the correct lane.
9.2 If the error is not discovered until after the opposing bowler has bowled, the scores shall count and the bowlers will be required to bowl their subsequent frames on the wrong lane.
10.0 Protests:
10.1 Any protests should be made immediately in writing, accompanied by a cash deposit of S$150, which will be returned only if the protest is deemed valid and successful by the Appeals Committee.
10.2 Protests should be made as soon as possible; any issues raised after presentation of the awards will not be entertained.
10.3 In all matters, the decision of the Appeals Committee and the Tournament Manager is final.
11.0 Absent / Tardy Bowlers:
11.1 Bowlers arriving late will still be permitted to join in the game; however, he/she will commence bowling from the frame which the other bowlers on the lane are at, forfeiting the previous frames.
11.2 Teams with absent bowlers will be given a blind score of 100 pinfalls per game per bowler; pacers may or may not be assigned.
12.0 Matters Not Provided For:
12.1 Decisions on matters not provided for in these rules and regulations shall as far as possible be governed by STBC playing rules and regulations.
12.2 All judgments will be made solely by the Tournament Manager.
13.0 Prizes:
13.1 Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 teams.
13.2 High Game Series for top 3 bowlers (male and female).
13.3 High game Award for male and female
13.4 Cash Prize for top 3 bowlers -

Okay Guys and gals, here are the results of the SIM Invitational Open 2004
A total of 19 teams took part in this event....with Team FOS sending 3 teams...
Congrats to FOS Team 3 for clinching 4th place...with captain Jae producing an outstanding performance of a 190 avg over 5 games.....

In addition to the abpve results, captain Jae snagged 2nd place in the overall Men's standings, starting off slowly with lines of 149, 182 and 163...before blazing into second place with two final games of 221 and 235...well done Jae!
Worth of mention too was Michelle who finished 4th overall in the Women's standings with a 150 avg.
Im sure this event has fostered good team spirit amongst all the members...(not that we needed it eh guys?)

Hey all,
Thanks for inviting me to bowl with the FOS team. Was an eye opener for me. So many die hard bowlers. I am still a long way from bowling the way I would want too. Nevertheless I will continue to train and improve....cheerios ppl ! -
