My pc has a faulty LPT port, hence my printer & scanner can't be used (both can start but scanner hangs & printer 4ever offline, tried reinstalling both drivers & software, still cannot).
The service man has suggested bringing the pc back for repair. In the case of faulty LPT, is there any self-remedy other than letting them brg back for a few weeks?
Thanks!
I had a slightly similar problem previously with a parallel porrt zip drive and printer. The fault come fromm the pc to zip drive cable.
Try installing only the printer and see whether it work. If it does, then the problem coming from your scanner/cable and not lpt.
Check your BIOS, did you enable your EPP+ECP option, you need this to be on, if you are going to use your parallel port with scanner.
The port itself was originally design for output only, it was until the recent years that the parallel port evolve into a bidirectional port.
