ICQ problems

  hmm...no one's using THIS forum, might as well post something, and also, I have a real problem.
  
  My ICQ (99b)...it was working normally until it suddenly crashed. Then after that, when I fixed the DB and opened it again, I found that I couldn't use my current account anymore...I could still use my other ICQ number..
  
  what my icq (and the aforesaid account) does is it just displays the connecting icon and never ever sucessfully connects...other accounts work...I really have a lot of unread msgs piling up.
  
  anyone can help me on this? Please contact me at my other ICQ number, 6342461.

  Are you running some ICQ hacks or cheats? If you do, try uninstalling it.

  I used some unhide IP thing on it, I don't really think that counts. I also tried installing again...nothing happened. Any other ideas? I'm dying here...

  go to fun.s1.net.sg
  download this program for ICQ database backup. Backup all your contacts, then uninstall the whole ICQ and DELETE the whole directory away..
  then reinstall again. Hopefully it helps.

  ARGH! I tried doing as suggested, and now, BOTH ICQ uins don't work anymore...any more ideas? F***! F***!

  hmmz, could it be wrong with the server at the ICQ side??? maybe u can go to the ICQ help section n email them about ur problem.

  okay...if you have this problem..it's something to do with a corrupt database, not your internet connection, if the flower just keeps on spinning colorfully without connecting.
  
  there are two choices. start anew (lose your whole contact list) or you can keep it (but a lot of work.)
  
  okay...if you want to "keep" your contact list :
  
  1.Even if ICQ can't connect...you can still see the people there right? Copy their UINs into a text file...then add them all manually...that's what I did...all 250+ of them...it took only an hour.
  
  *if you just want icq running again...without your contact list, skip #1
  
  2. then...what you have to do is DELETE the db99b, db, and uin folder, and run icq.exe
  
  3. when u delete those folders, icq will assume that there are no icq users on the computer anymore, so a prompt will appear...choose register existing user, and enter in your UIN and password.
  
  4. taddaaa!

  Your methods are all wrong !
  
  just go to the default ICQ directory :
  c:\$prog\ICQ\
  where $prog means your default ICQ working directory.
  
  (1)find Db99b folder.(2)copy it into another new directory.(3)download & install fresh copy of ICQ 2000b & enjoy chatting with your old friends ! 123 ... so easy !!!
