This is a great problem. I used to download Mcafee VirusScan and when I uninstall it, it stills appear at the add/remove icon in the control panel. So what should i do to remove it completely ? Help anyone ?
You need to edit the Windows registry or you could use "TweakUI", a windows tweak tool by Microsoft people though not supported by Microsoft Corp. Try http://www.winfiles.com under its "SEARCH", type "TweakUI". You should be able to find it easily ...

Try this, go to start, run, type regedit then go to hkey local machine, software, microsoft, windows, current version, uninstall, then select the reference to mcafee antivirus and hit delete.

Well, How about removing the software by using taskbar first, and then remove the program in Window explorer, and maybe some DOS deleting techiques will help, if you are lazy to download...

you will still need to remove from the registry. otherwise registry will still try to load the drivers or dll or even vxd that were used by the application and if you delete using dos command, it prompt an invalid link.
