I will be taking my 'O' level this year. I have a huge interest in music. Even though i did not have good qualifications. However , I finished ABRSM theory grade 5, a NUS er-hu grade 4. Will be having my ABRSM Practical grade 4 this year. But , i had stop playing er-hu. I was thinking should i go Arts school or Poly. I know singapore poly has a course 'Diploma in music&audio technology' which i'm quite interested in. Which it is also related with music. But, I heard that Arts school intake start at August and audition/interview will be at May. What if , i fail the audition next year when the poly have already started. Does it mean i have no where to go? Can i have your advise whether i should go Poly or Arts school. Thankyouverymuch guys! :)
music and audio technology diploma is not really a course which learns about music. It's a course which teaches you how to process music and audio. Not really the type of course that you want to enter unless you're a techie.. Best is choose arts school if your family can afford it. Yes you also have to consider the intake period. So it's actually either one. But I suggest you take up poly, cos it's the safest way for you.

Oh , so does music&audio technology can lead me to a music career in the future? Thankyou for your advise! :)
certainly not. music and audio technology course will make you an audio/music specialist. You know those singers doing recordings in a recording room? it's those sound specialist processing the audio.
For a music career, it's Art school for the win!
I'm sorry to bother you. but i think i will have a less percentage getting into LASALLE :(
cause i'm very worried i won't get in the audition and become school-less. Sorry , Does Music&Audio technology will give me a good future? Or , Do you know any poly courses that is related to music? Thankyou again :)
LASALLE and NAFA audition you will sure have a chance. I would say you still have a lot of time left, you can start preparing your portfolio from now. Be it music scores, compositions, lyrics, videography, and other arts material you have. I have one friend, went to LASALLE and subsequently NAFA In the end, drop out from the school because of the expensive school fees.
The music & audio technology field is not very big in Singapore, job wise, it may be slightly tougher to find a job in Singapore. Courses that is related to music... so far, none of the polytechnic offer course that is directed to music industry. Remember, polytechnic is an institution that churns out students to meet the industry demand.
So far, Mediacorp is the largest employer for audio and music students. The other employers are smaller production houses and media advertising companies.

u can apply to the diff institutions at the same time
if u heng heng accepted by all, u can reject the others
if u are towards performing arts instead of the technical part of arts, it's NAFA
private school thhey will take u in most likely.
My teacher said private is not highly recommended. That's why i didn't put private school in my list. :|
