cabbies dun go around cheating commuters with long route leh , end day cabby lost the most , cos waste time .
Unless like my night safari case , mine options are all jammed up .
If CTE all cleared , i would have gone ny CTE SLE Mandai Road .
My first choice is CTE SLE , massive jam , so i opt for my second choice BKE , BKE also will jam .
Third Choice is AYE PIE BKE , also will jammed .
Next choice i have is AYE Clementi Road , also will jam ( cos raining day )
Left two choices , AYE Bukit Batok or AYE PIE KJE .
So last choice ..... head to head , longer distance , but save my time , that's most important .
GPS dun show u such options .
GPS dun react so fast .
GPS dun analyse those +/-
It's all about experience .

Just like 8pm . 2 diffferent pax from Orchard Centrepoint to Hougang ., and pax from Plaza Singapure to Hougang .
I can say those 2 paxes will chose different route
Centre point will chose CTE exit UpperSerangoon .
Plaza Sing will chose Upper Serangoon direct .

And 2 paxes from Plaza Sing same taxi stand .
Both go Hougang Ave 8

One : Go according to our route , they anything one .
Two : Go by Upper Serangoon .
Which go by any route ? Which go by Upper Serangoon which is the shirter route ?

And learnt where to pick those pax where they have almost 0 chances to go by Upper Serangoon road .

Likewise , from Little India to Bukit Batok , if u chose to take such people , pls dun complaint they chose to go by Bukit Timah .
Cos that is the shortest route .... given to some race , that road is the best , cos it is cheapest , evern jammed will be okay mentallity .

So i will go Sunect City Marina Sq ......
Sunect city if pax wanna go Hougang , they have the first choice KPE now !!!
Serangoon Road is a bye bye route for them .
Have lah , then it's up to you to educate them .
Let them try this route , see if they like it , and explore the price different .
That is how we work for the benefit of next driver that took them , education .

U guys have got any idea ? Any long would that take to make up $4 of every jump of $0.22 ????
About 20 jumps ......

If i drop the current pax , and connect another pax ....... i no need wait for my meter jump 20x .to get $4
A new pax press meter can get $4

from zoo ever got ang mo going swissotel @ merchant .... 1st time go by mandai rd to CTE exit havelock rd ....kena f! 2nd time from zoo again, i go BKE to PIE, PIE to clementi ave 6 to AYE, ECP to keppel road , cantoment rd to eu tong seng.... pax :" very good driver ! $10 keep it ! " $10 plus metered fare ... sometime i also dunno y....haiz

Yeah, it's all about timing. Your mind must be sharp. One mistake and your income drop. As they say we are our own boss. To survive, you must learn how to max $$ per hour then you work less hours. Unless you like aunty J, always very lucky, can ting tong inside CBD all night.

I also use the same GPS. It's WAYWAY using papago map. But mine not

Ask pax prefer route?.......sometime 1 whole day also never encounter 1.........
After certain years of driving, it just became a routine.......pax on board, destination given, start meter, move on, move accordingly to shortest route(after so many years of driving, sometime point A to point B don't know encounter how many times liao, lol), reach destination, collect fare, thank you, next pax please..........
Everything just locked into your brain already, what you expect, what you will likely anticipate, what you look forward to(tipping), everything just repeat, repeat and repeat by itself.........
Only once in a very blue moon, kanna nasty pax..........so this less than 0.0001% of chances, need to install GPS?..........
For newbies, you might not be confident enough, try to ask, ask, ask......talk, talk, talk........communication is really important for TD........
For day driving, my only chances of asking pax which route to take, is when ERP on operation..........this one definitely must ask beforehand..........
For example.......
Far East Plaza to Beach Road.........
Knn, if you don't ask pax, "do you want to pay ERP and cut through Orchard?".........
Pax definitely will ask you, why take him 1 big round(U-turn, go through Newton Circle than Bukit Timah, Ophir Road)...........
Than if you don't ask and straight cut through Orchard..........
Pax will tekan you again........."why got ERP?"...........
GPS might be good for checking restaurant name, retail shop name.....etc, but again, why shall I do charity service?..........

Exactly. Any taxi driver who takes longer route on purpose is an idiot. But if pax complain taxi driver take long route, taxi company will send warning letter to driver.
True. Driver must have golden mouth and ask. But why pax no need golden mouth and direct properly.
Sometimes when taxi driver open mouth and ask for route confirmation, pax keep quiet. Then a while later pax open cb mouth and ask why never take other route. Argument start.

One doesn't need to open his golden mouth unless he/she so sure the route that he used , it's 110% shortest , undisputed champion of shortest .
If un-sure , one has to initiate to open the golden mouth .
And that iniative must come from the driver himself , not pax .
