Nice taxi uncle. and i have a question why many TD do this?

Met a nice taxi uncle today. He actually gave me a 30% discount on my cab fare!! Cos I was in some ulu area looking for bus stop..den saw his cab and waved him down. End up he wasn’t going in the same direction..i wanted to go to MRT to take train to X. But when I told him I was going to X, he drove me there…cos sunbian on the way…he initially told me is $xx. But overshot by 30% and I wanted to pay the full amount but he only took 70%.

TD pay not high..but he actually offered..den v chatty the entire ride too.
I seldom take taxi but when I do, it’s like more than 50% are very keen to chat and are super super friendly guys! (right, i'm a v quiet person. but they talk i got respond and also make conversation and ask them stuff also larh)
Don’t like to take cab cos train cheaper. And also (not to be picky…), I have v bad motion sickness and a lot of cabbies accelerate v fast and brake v hard :X make me feel like puking. esp today damn hot, plus i'd been walking a distance under hot sun plus i already had a pounding headache cos i'm sick today.
Why do many cabbies drive like that? Cos if accelerate and keep braking so hard..use a lot of petrol, and TD have to pay for the petrol right?
I met one malay TD, he nv do this. he will brake super gently. and when i ask him why, he say he dont want to make his passengers puke. funny sia! i nv said anything about puking, just asked him, 'why you brake so gently?' but only one guy tho. the rest drive like that. my uncle who is TD also drive like that.

surprisingly jie also know the acceleration and brake petro logic. that malay guy quite nice leh~
chatting with taxi uncles. some like to talk, some dont. silent is golden
but i always talk about pilitics, current affair and economy in cab~ thats the only topic i can relate to them.there is only once i puke after i step out of the cab :) when the new sonatas cab just added to the fleet. not used to the tua you and new brake

Haha I read on some articles how to save money on petrol :P Yup the malay guy v nice. he's not the only nice TD I met..got another i met, chinese de, cos his cab no NETS and I no cash..after the 20min ride he drove me to ATM to withdraw cash and waited for me in his cab...den send me home again. Lol.
Hmm..politics ah..if both of you support opposite parties den the whole argument will explode lei.
I always feel like puking after taking cab :C

I still have two weeks more to go~ If both is support opposition, the conversation will be smoother :D I think most td is support opposition one!
There was one incident quite scary... NETS transaction cannot go through... Try many time can't work... Die liao, not enough cash! The fare 3x.xx... End up, try using VISA then can pay
Another time is I alight at JP 7-11, only have $50 note on hand, uncle no small change. He's nice uncle, ask me don't worry can change at 7-11. Lol I rushed to 7-11 and get pokka green tea for uncle and pay the fare with the small denomination notes

actually tbh, sonata braking under normal conditions isn't very jerky [no push force encountered]. crown/cedric can be more jerky as it's manual. another reason for the driving patterns is that majority of taxis use diesel, consumption is unlike that of petrol cars except some models that are using petrol.
yep, sonata's turbo isn't something to be reckoned with, which makes the acceleration extremely powerful.
