Sonata catching on fire could be caused by the ongoing problems that Sonata are having. We all know that the Sonata has a gearbox problems, they get stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. This is why Sonata drivers feels the lack of power when picking up speed, so when taxi not picking up speed enough the TD step on the accelator putting more fuel into the engine. This will cause more heat generated in the engine block and more stress in the engine block since the explosion of the stronger fuel/air mixture is so much stronger. These engines are not designed to move the car from stationary in 3rd or 4th gear. I heard that Sonata gearbox problems goes away after new change of gearbox oil. But often can you change the gearbox oil??? Wonder whose fault does it come under, TD or CDG maintenance or Act of God??? I am sure if TD has to take the blame, all CDG Sonata TD will throw key since it cannot be prevented.

Sonata are saloon, private petrol generated car do not have turbo, to add turbo is out of it design, that extra air intake explosion at the combustion space is quicker than the exhaust outlet,
In another words, inlet turbocharger air suck in for compression combustion but the exhaust manifold turbocharger suck it too slowly, this leave lots of carbon and unused power heat still inside the combustion and when the next combustion come around, it get overly heated.
Engine cracked and fire slip out to burnt all other parts

Yes, yes yes, modify it to double big exhaust could help...like you see WRX, outlet so fast, engine gets clear of exhaust in time, efficiency up, and yet effective in power.Sonata, knn, heavy, yet the exhaust is like a 1.4cc with a lousy catalyst, you expect with turbo pick up, the exhaust will go off fast, I do not thing so, before the exhaust heat is clear, the next explosion happen, therefore, timing wrong, exhaust wrong, leading to sudden heat up, private sonata with petrol driven do not have turbo, and it is because of turbo, some accidents happened

Sonotas on fire means Sonota drivers driving the machines until they overheat. Only reason they do that is to make ends meat. Time to reduce rental for Sonatas.

Read about Hyundai cars in Europe catching on fire too and it mentions that Hyundai claims that the fire is not a flaw in design and it will not accept responsibility. So I am wondering if the Insurance or Taxi Company or Taxi Driver will be made the scape goat? I think if Taxi Driver is forced to accept liability, then I think it is wrong in so many ways. Or maybe CDG will makan the loss to control damage. After all, 80% of CDG fleet are Sonata. That is half of Singapore fleet!!!
