Nothing. I once hit a dog on a highway when driving my private car. Call the police they says they will inform the relavant authority (I think is SCDF iirc) to come and wash up the area and retrieve the body. No need make police report.

For my experience in China, if you are traveling at high and hit some small animal, you car can be seriuosly damage.
If you hit animal like Dog, Mouse deer, Wild Boar etc
then please cross you finger,

My Driver Ah Sheng Drivng my 大奔 600, Going with 140~160KPH, suddently something rush acroos the road, a very loud PONG, I also can feel that the car is shaking, We know we can't STOP becuase we don't know whether is a trap.We just carry on, Ah Sheng told me the front part of our Merc is gone, when we reach the next Highway Rest Point, We went down and check, My Merc 600 Bumpers is gone.
Ah Sheng said we hit some animal like civet cats.So Bros, If you running at 100 KPH along Mandai Road and Hit a Wild Boar, I can ONLY pray for you.

Whether to stop or drive on if a motorist met with an accident with a dog depends on the situtaion. I think its safer to first stop, access the situation, then decide whether to drive on. Pay attention to things like the location, onlookers, type of dog(pet/stray), etc. because the motorist can get into trouble if somebody were to pursue the matter.
According to Road Traffic Act, when a motorist had an accident with a dog(both pet and stray) its actually the driver's duty to stop and to render assistance.
Failure to comply if convicted faces a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.

Last few years me at Tuas South Ave 5 hit a small dog ..... Can u imagine if i call 999 , the police will sure : " HUH ? Tuas South ?" My friend reported robbery a few years back at Pioneer Walk ..... Police 1 hour then arrived . Imagine Tuas South Ave 5 ?

What to do, human make machine to destroy other living being, just make a small prayer and if you believe in reincarnation, just pray that it next life will be a good one, being a stray dog is suffering. And if you do not believe in reincarnation, just bless it to go heaven and that you actually had helped him to end all suffering here.

Yeah, if location is secluded(Tuas), dog type(stray)...I would drive off as well...
If hit one in a neighborhood when owner walking his dog(like the above mentioned case), better stop and assist lah.

Last Monda around 3am, came accross a dog kena knocked by a private just nearby my flat's rubbish chute area. The dog lies motionless, her owner also there, and the vehicle parked right at the spot macham a real crime scene. I still thought some human kena banged.
A while later saw 2 TP mobile arrived I quickly dash down and drove away my taxi if not kena summon for illegal parking.
So next time saw any stray kena knocked, remember to call police and give the TP some work to do, so got lesser time for us. lol

I didn't know it's a crime to drive off for hitting a dog ? If like that , i will tell the Police to sent all dogs for defensive walking ..... learn highway code ..... and learn to cross the road using the pedestrians crossings . And charge the dogs for illegally crossing the road or charge the owner for not taking care of the dog . Dun blame us .
