If u r coming in from JB, take a cab there, $30 sing only, anywhere in Singapore, can go two places provided the location are on the way, but mostly they will said $50, then bargain now, and depend on the time, day or nite, it can be settle around 30 to 40 dollars.
Sing to KL is $300 one way transfer, if 2 ways, $400 only on the next day, because of the return trip, mostly empty, but if client like your driving and comfort, mostly they book you 3 days, that will be about $1000 due to hotel stay, at the same time, you hv to ferry them here and there, 3 days + free hotel, free breakfast + $1000, why not? and after, their companies are paying.

Yes, it's true, I got 1 or 2 ex-colleague after retirement join LTA as investigator. They tell me, most LTA officers look at TDs as earning a lot, compared to themselves, who have fixed pay. They definitely don't want yellow top era back again, because they know those who own these taxis, are making money by having a vehicle that pays for itself plus gives the owner a salary on top of that.
And they got no control over them, whereas with CDG and SMRT, they can control and these 2 companies would do everything they ask.

So the ownership is taken from you, transfer to companies where the Goberment can control like puppets.
You are not born yesterday. So many examples. You want another example....
CNG. Most countries reported good initiative. Only one country says it's not good enough for the environment and decides to scrap it. Even the not educated ones knows that it is environmentally better than Petrol.

with the high COEs/insurance premium and short life span of cabs here, i'll think twice.

Aiya, there is like this one, in boleh country, if you walk straight, you get nothing, end up more problem and wasting of time. Even if you dun give, they will also ask, hello Datuk, RM500 + one bottle of keep walking boleh liao. So it is a culture problem, it just work that way. Knn diesel only $0.35cent per litre -
