  For LTA . . . as long as you put BUSY , are indicating to commuters , u have no intend to do business .

  No wrong .

  Just cannot put TAXI and dun take passengers at taxi stand .

  Taxi no wrong doing to wait at Taxi Stand , even with BUSY .

  U can chose not to ON the taximeter .

  But once involve in accident , suay suay need to claim whatever , then without On taxi meter , insurance company can say u are illegal despatching passengers which they do not cover the claims .

  Yup. Private insurance companies will even pay double indemnity if meter is on as the pax on board is classified as getting involved in an accident while in public conveyance.

  Simple rule of thumb lah, just press meter wherever someone other than yourself is onboard, dun tell me you keep ferrying family members the whole day meh??

  Yah. I have certain ppl to pick up at a fixed timing fixed location. But of cos will on meter and charge booking fee accordingly as they can claim from company.

  Dont want to throw cold water on you. But if you seriously want to make a living out of Taxi, you got to minimise these type of activities.

  You can schedule time for your family, but to mix OTR time with Family, you will mess up your ability to make consistent income from Taxi Driving.

  You may not understand what I say until you try it out.

  it's true what bro striveon said,ferrying relatives or wife is wasting ur time ,u don't earn anything!sometimes before u realise it,at least 2 hours wasted,then u lose ur momentum,need to pick up again!very frustrating

  I told my wife, if she calls me, I will surely respond.

  But I also told her that each time I respond, I will loose minimum 3 hours OTR, maybe more. BUT, I WILL RESPOND.

  If she one day call me 2 times, wah lau oei, better I return the key and spend more time with her.

  If my kids call me, I will respond, unconditionally, because they are the reason why I have to drive Taxi.

  My sister once ask me whether can book my Taxi at 6.30 pm. I had to reject her because I dont know where I will be at 6 pm. Unless I intend to do this out of goodwill, then no discussion.

  If wait for Pax more than 5 or 10 mins, can consider no show.

  If wait for family members more than 30 mins, how?

  To me very simple, My OC and girls will never call me unless S.O.S

  She know my working hours is very precious.

  Same to my girls, the most they take Taxi and later claim to PaPa.

  So far ONLY time I need to URGENTLY pick up them is last year MRT Break down,
  they stuck in Paragon, I fly from Yishun to Orchard in 30 Mins to rescue them。

  Bro striveon. I agree with what you said but to me, ferrying my wife and baby to and fro child care centre already form a part of my daily life. So even driving a taxi, I still feel I'm responsible for them no doubt I may need to drive 20km empty cab just to pick them.

  Anyway, driving a cab as a omo is my part time job only so I don't really mind even if I only broke even or lose some rental per day. My reason for choosing taxi as pt job is just to see and know more people while on the job which is in relation to my main job and 2nd reason is that I wanna kill time when I'm free.

  I really respect the job as a TD as its a down to earth and honestly making a living so hope you dun frame me yah.. I especially enjoyed driving and I can explore all of Singapore and yet I'm paid:D

  no matter how, more and more i still read this like pick certain passengers from certain places, even the man admitted..sometimes 'family and friends' is good xcuse i think some drivers understand the 'technqiue' ;P
