Another newbie here, haha…. Wan to seek ur advise if it’s neccessary to look thru the directory or map before hit the road on 1st day.
Suddenly, if pax said a location esp housing estate in a Ave or St….. Will pax guide as I drive along or is it ok to refer to directory to confirm… Will this annoy pax ?.

When u ask , won't get fucked one . Just ask politely .
But if u dunno , and dun asked and anyhow humtum , surely kena fucked by paxes .

So first thing , u must ask : " Hi i am new , dun mind tell me which way you prefer ?"
Pax : " Any way , the fastest ."
Another nabey eh siow liao .
" Ok , do u know the way there ? Cos i not really sure the shortest route ."
if they still dunno , and u dunno , it's good to tell them take the taxi behind .
P/S : Then go home open street directory and find the correct way .
That's what Lone Ranger can do most .
No kakis help , of course will die cock stand that way .

If driving day shift . . . pls pls do find some kopi kakis , or lunch kakis , and spent some 30-45minutes learn things from them .
Everyday learn some here , learn some there , a few months down the road , should be able to overcome those obstacle .
We all went thru such stage , everyone went thru , why not you ?

Above listed members , most under 1-2 years experience , but i can consider they can make it liao .
U learnt a bit from Khoon , absorb a bit from jackpot , steal abit from mickey mouse , in 6 months , u also can make it .
And of course , the best person u must learn things from , it's from Jade , cos she's so sotong , sotong people got more sotong experiences .

I will give discount after the taxi meter stopped hehehee... but most of the time pax will say nvm n huat ah …also got some just take the discount hehehee

I am not only a new driver but also a new citizen , I got no Friends driving taxi or kopi sessions or even a backup to call if i dont know the way( which is most of the time) , I have been driving both OMO and as shift Hirer since Feb 23 2012 so far I havent " die cock stand". so Here is my two cents worth.
1. Invest in a GPS unit , i know everyone will jump saying brain best gps etc , hear me out type in destination and see the route computed it takes about 25 sec you already know roughly where and how to go confirm with passenger and drive second advantage near the destination it guides you to rough area (within 200 meters) of the alighting point of coustomer. this will help you with those coustomers who also dont know where their destination is
2. If you got those type of passengers who die die save 10 cents they will guide you not only the entire route but even which lane to keep along the way that sorts your problem out
3. third type of Passengers are daily users / very aware of route to their destination just be honest and tell them before you press meter that you are not sure of the way can they guide you how to go
4. get a smart phone Android or Iphone dont matter install "sgmaps" an app from street directroy this also help you as you can find out route from "point A to point B". also very handy if you forgot to turn the meter on and on destination have no idea what to charge , through this app you can get approx taxi fare and charge fairly
5. be preapired to offer $1 or $2 discount if pessanger grumbles a bit on taking longer route after all at the end of the day you always make the money as per meter as some pessagers do tend to leave tips as well ( i get them daily without fail)

I fully agree.If dunno, just ask; say you are new.
Even if kena f*cked, also no sweat because you tried your best, and you did not anyhow humtum.
But the true fact is that, you will not get f*cked.
Almost 3 months on the road, and I have not found an unreasonable customer.
Troublemakers have; unreasonable pax, No.
The problematic paxes are the ones already intend to make trouble.
Such as short pay you and rush out of Taxi;
or you ask whether turn or not, but they keep quiet, then whack you.
Or they dont know the way, but after you travelled, they tell you got shorter way, but when you go home and check, their shorter way cannot go through.
Take Note,
1) Always be courteous. If you need to f*ck the customer, do it after they left and closed the door.
2) If dunno, say dunno. Loose one customer better than creat a big problem.
3) Keep track of difficult or interesting route for review and study when you go home
4) Have some khakis to share and learn, but the danger is you should not spend too much time drinking kopi. In Taxi business, this phrase is so true, "Time is money".

hope this helps you to start off in this industrysome passengers saw u using GPS,they quickly siam!they know the stupid GPS will go one big round.got once,it even go thro a car park but in the end still reach destination!but frankly speaking,if passenger saw u have GPS,they don't have confidence in u!

well what matters is the end of day you achive your target and go home , i dont drive Taxi to win people confidence I drive to earn a living , what will the be confidence level of pessanger when they see the TD going through Street directory like a mad man (suppose to find the location within 30 sec) to find route , GPS is a tool Perhaps much better then street directory if one learns how to use it . for me if someone grumble about me not knowing the route i always tell them got 6000 roads and 28000 buildings to ramdonly find the shortest route from point A to Point B is a job of computer thats what i am using if they dont like there is always the next Taxi
