That day , i meet a taxi driver .
He was a newbie in taxi line .
He was formerly the dunno what Adidas Regional Sales and Marketing Manager or Director .
He was sent packing because Adidas Germany overhauling the whole departments in Singapore , replacing them with a whole brand new team of Sales and Marketing members .
So what's going on in my head ?

two things i learnt in fact .
No 1 , i learnt that Germany , when their economy in their country doing not so good , also retrenchment on the line , they did not retrench the Germans , instead , they retrench Singaporeans and sent in those Germans !
They are protecting their countryman !
This is something Singapore companies must learnt and the government must learn as well .
Protecting Singaporeans , not Neglecting !

No 2 , the Germans are exploiting our employment loopholes , the big holes of issuing employing pass for them to bring in Germans and sent our Singaporeans packing .
This is another issue Singapore government must be aware of that !

It is very funny when local manufacturers are moving out of Singapore to create jobs for someone else and Singapore are opening doors for foreigners to work replacing our locals .
So what my 11 year old son going to do in future ?

PAP if really so pro the people they wont have their vote share drop from 66.6% to 60.1%
And they know its serious? Why? Becos they have factor in the New Citizens that have voted for them cos without the new citizens support their vote share is defitnitely below 60% mark.
And lets not forget the ruling goverment is the Biggest Landlord and also the Biggest Employer(directly and indirectly thru GICs and temasek holding) in Singapore.
Of cos its does make perfect sense for them to squeeze every bits from the people by surpressing wages while increasing land prices.

Than if we got to talk about policy of employment pass, will go on and on. MOM website can enlighten us more clearly on that.
@ericgo, I won't take you on as it don't pertain to taxi issue, your knowledge and my knowledge on certain things might not be the same, is clueless to argue on this issue over here.
If you decided to put words like, 'blind', 'idiots', on your post to me, than don't expect me to give you any face next time when you post something pertaining to taxi.
Lastly, I can post something like what Poolman had post pertaining to my wife company, is the other way round, sensible? I don't think so?

Me post only according to thread title...so i see this thread as not really td related...but in another way its also can be related cos we are seeing more of such of our own singaporean professionals becoming tds which is sad within our society.

I'm doing my property show room duty today at one of the new development in the North. At approximately 2.5 million each cost for individual terrace house, out of 39 exclusive units, 22 been sold so far, by foreign investors? You must be joking. Land sales we talking about.
Viewers came from all sort of life, from professional to hawkers to taxi drivers.
Before these so call professional turn into TU, think? What's went wrong? It always take 2 hands to clap.

Until today, nothing change, TD is still for people like us, school low low type, until government say knn, taxi ho dang, from today onwards, must be at least U-grad to be TU. Than I will have problem, no jobs, than these professional ho sei liao.
No doubt is a decent job, but my point is, once you choose to be TU, must, I say must forget about your past and look forward for your "future", in fact, there's no future for TU...hahaha

Any man above 40s, by right, the career or whatever he works on should be the height of his working life, if you are a banker, u confirm banker till retire, a hotel bell boy, should be there, maybe on the way, promote to captain or senior bell boy, and if you are a TD, so be it, most likely that will be your job till retirement, by 40s+ if you call for job interview, after revealing your age, the lines can go dead suddenly, and when you call again, it get engaged.
In social life, 40s to 50s, lots of people experience midlife crisis, and most do not even know they are suffering from it, sudden poor eyes, suddenly cock cannot perform, suddenly see mirror growing old, suddenly ask oneself, what hv I achieved, I failed in life and as time goes on, depression set in, you are no more as garang as you are 25 or 30yo, even 3rd storey also take lift, and the hormone change add on to the crisis.
But not all are out and done, at this age, family happiness bring joy and help to you, kids would had be in JC or Uni or working, your support to them is still very much needed, love wife dearly, filial piety to parents of both sides, be discipline and jovious as alway. Life is not about future, it is about purpose, what is your purpose in life, with a family and lovely kids, your purpose is to support and love them thru thick and thin, and with that purpose, no matter what you work, be it a TD cum casket driver like me, you alway feel happy and look forward to be with your family

In the past, when you are a senior manager, chances are you can still find a place in the job market. Due to lack of talent in these areas. And for those few who could not get a job, they became dependents.
Today, there are too many professionals who lost their job and could not re-enter the job market. Out of these big group of people, some are at their wits end, while some are entreprising. And they became TU.
Why they cannot re-enter the job market, no point to discuss here. I am one of them.
With my talent, I can easily contribute to a company to turn around their accounting numbers or improve it to an admirable level. But if they dont even call me for interview, how can I show them my capabilities. What happened? Why am I in this situation?
(Just for info, my sister is already 60+ and she can easily find a job in America. She migrated over 3 decades ago)
No point to discuss or talk about it now. You have to achieve the first Objective before anything else can be discussed or implemented.
YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT 39% BECOME 51%.
Then we can brainstorm how to improve our lives.
Today, just shut-up and do whatever you can to put food on the table.
By the way, I have a Master too. And I used to manage Subsidiary Factory of over 300 headcount.

I feel sorry for your plight.
But...school high high still should not enter TD industries.
Whether 39% or 51%, don't make any different to your plight, unless TD required a master degree holder to hold that steering.
And that is my point, nothing else...good or bad government? Don't really matters to your plight, when downfall, people like you turn to lower grade jobs and kpkb to government, how about us? School low low type...who can we turn to?
Imagine though is possible, with 'O' level like me, become a CEO climbing on top of all the others in the related field, who's fault? Government again?
