Today is the last day of my TDVL course at SMRT.
SMRT told us if we sign up within 2 mths from the last day of course (30/4/2012), we are entitled to enjoy 2k allowance, payable over 1 year.
I am considering to get a cab from SMRT (2k benefits, why not). Here are the details given to us.
1. Chevrolet Epica - $115.56 (+GST) Brand New - Early June. Flag Down $3.40
2. Hyundai Azera (CNG/Petrol) - $105.93 (+GST) 1 to 3 years old. Flag Down $3.40
3. Ssanyong MPV - $104.86 (+GST) 1 to 3 years old. Flag Down $3.90
4. Mercedes - $124.12 (+GST) > 6 years old. Flag Down $3.90
Which cab should I take? What's your view?
MMo69,
Do go n drive as relief first, have a taste of taxi driving then decide.
When u are more familiar with singapore roads, try limo cab. Successful limo driver are indeed tua kee.
Last week, my new hirer bring me for kopi session with his kakis. upon reaching, surprise to see few uncles wearing white n black. during the session, ask them some questions and the answers really surprised me.
what ever you do, don't take Hyundai Azera, the cng tank is small, you will go to cng station more than you go home
eh? MMo69
i thought you wanted to start out as a relief first? changed mind already?
Ya Azera range only 180-200km. Kim Gu also fuel guzzler. If you want cheap and low overhead take Trans Wish 1.8 cheap cheal rental $94++ less monthly incentive $665 only $70++ nia. Very easy cover. But dun accident hor. Then they will try to eat your money.
Start as relief $50++ if take Sonata. Might as well top up $20++ drive a 1.8 Wish. Can drive 2 peak hours no on time on target. No hassle change shift, wash car, top up petrol.

Thanks Brother weehu.
What you said is correct. When more familiar with the roads, then try limo cab.
smrt wants to tempt newbies with new cars!so choose carefully!whether ur capable to take their car, don't regret later and throw keys!

Brother Kelvan5611,
Correct. Hyundai Azera CNG tank quite small. Only 20kg. Full tank only 180km.
To travel 300km, must pump 2x.
1x still never mind. 2x is a turn off.

Brother HKoh,
Keeping my options open. Want to hear the advise from the old birds.
I even email DSO @ comfort but a list of hirers. Quite hard to find a hirer looking for day relief. Sat/Sun have.
So, you confirm you getting new Chevrolet Epica?

Brother HH8888,
Correct Azera can only travel 180km with a full tank CNG. Pump CNG 2x a day quite a turn off.
I also hear Kim Gu drink fuel like water.
Trans Wish 1.8 ($93++) & Wish 2.0 ($99++) with $665 monthly incentive quite tempting though got to pump CNG. I heard Wish 1.8 can travel 275km, but Wish 2.0 can travel 250km. Wish 1.8 quite old compared to Wish 2.0. How old I dunno.
Hearsay Transcab got big problem coming. Even Poolman also run. Like that how huh?

Ct2220,
Hope you are well. I am aware of what's happening, thought I didn't post anything on your thread.
Indeed no free lunch. Hougang free porridge also got purpose.

Poolman,
I can understand that. If good, why give allowances. Like what ct2220 said, no free lunch.
Some said take Transcab Wish, but you also throw key at Jasmine. Thread by chaochao seems to hint something big going to happen. Serious or not? Like that how?
Can join LV or not?

Brother Khoon2580,
So SMRT Epica (with 2k incentive) is still more X than Transcab Epica.
Hyundai Azera is actually not suitable as a Taxi. How to travel 300km when full tank (CNG) can only travel 180km.
Ssanyong MPV and Mercedes not suitable for newbie. I can understand that.
Also heard SMRT deposit 6 months then give back. Anyone can confirm?
Wish 2.0 full tank 18-22kg depends on pump. Range 260-300km. Wish 1.8 16-18kg range 180-220. But 1.8 use almost no petrol except starting engine. Maybe few dollars a month but 2.0 is running abt 2-5% petrol so must top up 10-15 dollars a week.

Brother OWT,
Thanks for your support. I actually already started a blog on cab. (not here but my own domain), But.. will also start a blog here soon after I passed my TDVL.

Brother HH8888,
I cannot remember if it was mentioned in the class, but will help you to find out about that.
Thanks for the extra information about Wish.
Wish 2.0 can travel 280 +/- 20km.
Wish 1.8 can travel 200 +/- 20km.

Brother foolsh_2000,
True lah. Incentive is to tempt newbie, as newbie have to sign up within 2 months (actually 3 months also can) to enjoy the benefits.
So still got at least 2 months to try out.
