Cabbies' earnings have risen by up to 30 per cent since a fare revision last December, which had initially dampened passenger numbers.
ComfortDelGro, the biggest operator here with about 15,600 taxis, said average net income per cab per day has risen by 12 per cent to $210.93.
The figure, up from $188.69 in November, excludes costs drivers have to bear, such as rental and diesel.
It translates to a monthly income of $5,906 (based on 28 days because of days off), or about $2,953 per driver per shift.
which oso means commuters are taking home less bcos they are paying cabs more.
which means cab rental going up very soon... =)
the news always come with hidden meanings...
Wow, nowaday big fellow talk very easy. Perhaps cost of driving increases 30% then correct!! Taxi stand no queue!, road side many taxi!
Collection => $5906
Rental @$106 x 28 days => $2968
Fuel @ $45 x 28 => $1260
----------------------------
Take Home => $1678
Don't forget, NO CPF, NO MEDICAL LEAVE, NO ANNUAL LEAVE, NO NOTHING.
Plus every now and then, Donation to LTA or TP, for entering Bus Lanes or Stopping at non-designated places.
.........!!....???
You still think Cabby good life ?

Operators really know how to make the numbers look BIG.
$5906 is based on 2 shift ( 24 hours ).
If you are an OMO, how many hours can you drive? Can you really drive 24 hours non stop?
So if you based on 12 hours shift, TD only earn $2953 excluding Rental and Fuel Cost.
Based on StriveOn's calculation, it should be
Collection => $2953
Rental @$53 x 28 days => $1484
Fuel @ $22.5 x 28 => $630
----------------------------
Take Home => $839
$839 only OK!!
The other thing I dont understand.
In the article, Comfort says Takings up 12%, But Author put in BIG Heading, Up 30%.
The author did not mention the Rental (of Taxi) hike, and the Fuel hike.
It is clear cut that this article is a propaganda.
Propaganda => Put an idea that is not true inside the mind of unsuspecting people.

Some people don't read the details, just look at the Heading. Wah 30%.
All of us suffers.
Commuters pay more.
Cabby takes in more, but real earnings did not increase.
So who benefitted?
Most probably you can easily figure that out.

Thanks for pointing out the error.
I dont hit those numbers and I did not want to dispute it.
Above 30 years old, and taking home miserable pay !!
Only thinking of food and shelter.
My advise to CDG drivers..Don't anyhow press..
What they claim is all log in...by individual..
passengers always thiink we earn a lot,so everytme expect us to resppect them,go shortest route,no argung wth them,can get complains fr passengers if don't like u!
That's what i think too .
They now planning to recruit more drivers to drive their Toyota Crown , they stucked quite a bit in their back yard .
Now people see those figures , can be wow !!! And proceed to Comfort and sign up taxis .
No Sonata , if want Sonata , drive Crown first .
Now anyone who want to drive a Crown , just inform any hirers here , they will be given $300 as referal fee .
Now Comfort saved that $300 , must well advertised one shot on ST .
That will be another round of exercise to cool down those returning taxis as OMO due to diesel hike ( must be Crown OMO ) , and returning as relief drivers .
Now news is no longer news , u can buy yourself into the Headlines .
Remember that Roast Duck Auntie wanting to see her recipe to $3.5m ?
Do you think ShinMing do free adverting for her ?
Dun be naive , she can buy herself into the headlines , got money can do the evil .

Sonata and Merc also confirm up .
Currently only TransCab remains the same market rate if base on 2010 rate .
Even Premier's i30 is also over price .
Prime one dun say , different issue , they contract basis .
It's rubbish talk ...... that figures can never never applies on Night shift .
But i can say that on day shift .
Day shift definitely has got higher demand now , cos it dirt cheap .
Night shift 6 hours of 25% , no fun .
Same sentiments to many , tell them " Come n Drive " a cab just one day , and then talk cock here .
