I got a feeling , with the COE not going down anytime for the next 2 years .
I felt some taxi companies will have no choice , but to convert their existing CNG taxis into Petrol Powered taxis , or purchase smaller CC cars as taxis ! With have a less COE prices for 1600cc or lower vehicle .
Also Petrol Powered taxis also need to comply with paying diesel taxes like those from diesel taxis .
I foreseen more petrol taxis similiar to Hyundai i30 diesel to be on the road .
Alongside the likes of Toyota Axio and Some Toyota Wish 1800cc from Prime .
What you think ?
If petrol prices is not too much diff against diesel , will u opt for a petrol powered cars as taxis ?
currently taxi companies have to compete bidding COE with the likes of BMWs , Mercs and Jaguars etc .....
I thought the PAP are real suckers to categorise taxis with big cars ....
It's a nobody-wins situation .
Vote those illogical PAP for f*ck ? Brainless suckers

Aiyo........
You been driving a taxi for donkey years and been writing in this forum for so long.
Yet you can make this statement !!!!
Alamak chief, even ah soh also know under cat A lah.
COE increases main objective is to reduce car population in Singapore which the former Transport boss Raymond Lim had make a mess out of it, COE then was just 6k, one hyundai Avante cost just 43k,sonata 65k, now it is 100k and over.
Except for those Taxis that have less connection with the govt, like transcab, cdg and smrt etc will still go on to buy 2.0cc and above taxis, as a first world city, the govt do not want to see too much a bangkok kind of toyota vios taxis on the road.
What will happen is actually, after reduction of vehicle on the road thru scrapping, by which COE will had gone to 100k, and for car owner, to drive on for another 5 years is not worth paying 50k for it.
Even those who use business license to buy vans and pick up or those renault small vans are now facing high COE, this time round the COE increased on all categories. Pick up and vans are around the same as CAT A COE prices.
Again rumor, rumor only ok
Like buses which is coming out 800 more on the road, a few big taxis companies are also going to join force to introduce new merc, VW and other top mid range luxury taxis on the road, call centre will be one, rental of cab will be high as $180. Lots of corporate and call jobs, the like of taiwan and japan. The result will be, calls being attended, taxis available at all times and as for taxis driver, the same or even worst, drive until up lorry.
Cat A - CAR (1600CC & BELOW) & TAXI
Cat B - CAR (ABOVE 1600CC)
Dun try to confuse me. Taxi is already in Cat A.
BMWs, Mercs, Jaguards are mostly in Cat B.
No Lah, Merc also got 1.6 cc under cat A

Even you strike 4D also must act sad, no smiling and laughing
petrol taxis no need to pay any extra "clean" tax like diesel taxi. But the only problem is it is too high for taxis to run in petrol unless the taxis companies can get at least 20% discount from any of the oil compaies here for Taxi. i30 is a good car to operate as taxi not too big or small. maybe those taxi compay can get the latest version even more roomer inside the car than the old i30.

haha yah lor u say huat kenna F by the relatives..........
taxi company are idiots, bastard
COE - 10years life span
if the taxi coy register in 2007 for some of their taxi, in 2012 they scrape it, still can use the balance 5 yrs for the next new taxi they register
so on the road now, how many taxis fall into this cagetory which at the 1st 5 years usage.
we see smrt bidding, one reason is that they are trying to expand their current size which mean they need to bid for new coe, not every month taxi are bidding like 1000 pieces of coe, the number is actually very small
so beside smrt, some crown which are now on the road are mixture of 1st 5yrs and 2nd 5yrs, actual number only they will know, this is how the system work,
So for some of the new taxi on the road their cost may not be that high as everyone thinks

I believe taxi COE is like rental cars 7 yrs.
Taxi coys scrapping fleet after 5 yrs probably due to high maintenance, as some cars they've chosen wasn't practical for fleet use in SG ie. Silver's eastern conti make. High breakdown rate and spare parts issue I believe.
Taxi coys expanding fleet is due to economies of scale from purchasing to maintenance of fleet not to mention more taxis equals higher profits!! If taxi coys are unprofitable or low margin business, u think they'll expand when PTC come out with minimal fleet size? They'll cite a thousand n one reasons to justify why they cant lol........
Bottom line, when the saturation pt hits u'll see many pple throw keys. Reasons are as follow,
1. High rentals...rental rate seems to be trending upwards (new models n higher COE and there seems to be no lack of takers).
2. More taxis means lesser takings. When after deducting expenses n hourly rate hits $10 then I seriously think assuming some much risk is not worth it.
Wish list........
I hope to see more hirers having relieve/partners to make full use of cab and reduce the take up rate. Then the taxi coys will have no choice but to scarp the excess n kiss Gd bye to their beautiful profit projections.
Hope that there'll be more protection for cabbies from unreasonable company policies which we have no recourse.
LTA should seriously consider taking taxi out from the COE system as taxi is a public Tpt/service like bus. That's one way of reducing cost to taxi coys n hopefully they pass down the savings.

LTA take out COE for taxis?? not in the next 100yrs bro.........
the system for rental car life span 7 year no longer apply liao SZ or SZA is history
last time taxi used 5yrs(when coe cheap) scrape still got incentive from lta plus balance unuse coe will be refund if no being use for another taxi.
whether petrol or diesel taxi, the only gain is by the taxi coy, not the td,
to them there are always newbie want to try, never ending one as we can see from waiting list for taxi and tdvl classes, we are being left to fright for survive on our own
