For me, I pay my relief the prevailing diesel pump rate (ie $1.15 per litre presently) @ 10 km per litre.
My sonata is less than 2 yrs old and both of us cannot finish the full tank of 65 litres (can go around at least 650 km) in 1 day. For us, max 550 to 600 km.
Since he has to pump anyway and doesn't have to queue so much early in the morning, he can make a bit from the diesel and I can save alot of time.
I used to give him at 9 km per litre but after monitoring for 1 week, he said he'll just collect 10 km per litre.

Cool brother.So, have you learnt a lesson, this is relief driver lesson 1.
1. The best benefit of relief is that you can throw anytime, no obligation. That is the best of being relief.
2. Better to get a hirer with just you as a relief, too many reliefs end up not knowing who the fark dented the side door, there will be fingers pointer here and there with 3 pointing toward themselves
3. Must spell out all the necessities with hirer before taking over, from diesel to timing to maintenance issue to parking. Hirer swee, you swee swee, hirer swee swee, you swee swee swee.
As a super relief myself, nearly everyweek meet up with different kind of hirers with all kind of pattern, from getting knocks and conned during early my newbie period, now I am an expert negiotator and bargainer.
Finding good hirer or relief is like looking for a needle in a swimming pool, hardly able to get, partnership is therefore base on how much both side are willing to give and take, each got their own self interest which is in a way conflict of each other. As I had post earlier about partnership, these few events is sure to take place
1. Introduction
2. Brewing
3. Storming
4. Spring
5. Normaling
Anything relation that cannot pass by the storming period shall be terminated, be it husband or wife, gf or bf, hirer or relief, once partnership can reach the 5th point, the relation will grow and excel

takes time to find a good hirer. 2 hands clap in sync.
i on road bout 4 months. Only on 3rd relief then find compability.
your hirer very smelly, parking also must pay. my relief pumps once a day and we'll spilt accordingly. no arguments as yet.
I stay woodlands also. if need to rest your cab, the loading/unloading bays quite ok to dump cab few hours, but you must know the warden timings.
maybe keep lookout for smrt cabs also cos this side smrt base.
