this's all the mistake from day 1!day 1,at bishan rd(braddell Rd) go to CTE,almost turn wrong to Toa payoh!go tampines ave 2,miss the turn at bartley rd east..end up turn in by tampines A5!

day 3..key $3 CBD when in UE Square,dunno where's capital square(pax told at church st n telok ayer) B4 reached know my $3CBD mistake,so tell pax about it...But 4got how to delete K2/K4!!pax pay by cab charge n say never mind 4got it(Still worry,will she turn behind me n complaint?

this's the BEST!pick black skin tourist at china town to siloso beach!never go in sentosa since dunno where liao!turn wrong to casino..Lost inside carpark,so get down n ask help to exit there!BUT...exit tilll out side telok blangah then u turn back to sentosa..very paisey!tell pax wont collect fare..end up pax give $7 or $8 to me!!!

Looks like you are really not familiar with many routes and the charges.
My advice is please memorize by hard where to charge the CBD.
Don't get yourself into trouble just because of that $3.
Not worth it.

Alvin87a. Your story really gives me the morale and confidence.
I not yet drive, but my greatest fear is not knowing how to navigate.
I have been driving Private car, and NOBODY, NOBODY dares to correct me when I go wrong or long way. At most they tell me got shorter way. Driving cab not the same. I heard of things like the brain freezes even though you know how to go.
I will be telling my Newbie stories very soon.
note: human nature very strange. when you realise fellow human beings also suffering, then your own suffering becomes more tolerable.

As what JDIL, always be honest to pax eventhough you knew the road well.
By telling them you are new to let them aware.
To be honest, so far driving for ard 3 mths (17-19 days cos driving only weekend), my hit rates of understanding/assisted passengers are 90%. So still not that bad.
Just kanna one aunty that was very rude and expected familiar to her road eventhough I mentioned I'm new while she boarded the cab. So, she one of the 10%. Eventhough she keep nagging why don't know this and why don't know how to go, I still keep my cool and asked her politely, if she could show the way and she got no choice but LL still tell me. But still nag here and there.
She is the first pax that I don't bother to say "Thank You" while she paying and I keep quiet. Quite annoying but lucky I got connection and start off the next one again. So keep Cool and Jia You.....

3 months ago I also gong gong. Took about 2-3 weeks to tune up. Just take pax and force brain wake up.
But now and then brain freeze. Roads you know till pax ask all of a sudden forget.
$3 CBD surcharge no anyhow key, wat go drink kopi. If in doubt don't. simple is wait till you see the gantry or put busy.
especially the unity st/ mohd sultan area. very easy forget then key. must observe cabs around you, if many green sign but no pick up, you know you not in cbd.

TS, nevermind, at least you admit your mistakes, that is how we learn, so now you know bishan to CTE? siloso beach? Tampines ave 2? vivo to woodland??, everyday learn a few routes well, by a month, you should be able to cope. Mistakes is for you to learn, not for you to ponder and be sad or remorseful over it.

not so bad lah for the first few days...
instead of asking pax which way they prefer to go... can ask them "which way you usually go by?" or "which way should WE take?"
sentosa a bit tricky... to make things simple for yourselves... onli Casino and RWS go into carpark - left most TWO lanes...
the rest of sentosa go in by the other lanes... inside sentosa... at the first round about- muz know which hotels is turn left... which hotels is turn right... not sure juz drive slow... got signboard one...

since you are new. if you are not sure, can always start asking pax any prefer route .
if not then tell pax whether the route you are taking is fine or not.

I did delivery into sentosa. If not sure just ask the counter staff at gateway, they r very willing to guide u.

Not sure whether can charge CBD, then dun charge. Remember where you picked up pax, then go back and find out. whether in CBD Thats what i do. Better to forgo $3 than invited to drink coffee. The rest is as fellow TDs advise and u should be fine.

2 things I always reminded myself when I just started out.
1. Keep a sharp lookout for speed limit signboards and monitor my cab speedo regularly.
2. Look out for the directional signages, they are very good here in sg and can guide you well along the way.

After driving for several months, I still made some mistakes and keep learning.
1. Didn't realise Mt sophia is inside CBD, fare never include CBD surcharge.
2. Got passenger flag my cab at bus stop along Nicoll highway near Suntec, didn't realise can charge CBD surcharge also.
3. Pickup a passenger inside CBD at 11:59pm, forgot to key-in CBD surcharge. After midnight, no CBD surcharge can be added to the fare.
