Fine also govt take, fine for what, TD get nothing, if say fine $2000 and give taxi driver $1,500 I do not mind chasing after the run away guy, put on my old nike shoes and just do it.
Best is run away fare get caned and hv to drive free for us for a week including giving us the profit, in this way, his buttock get hurt and also he will know how hard uncle driving taxi life is..
Nothing is for free.
That guy from the temple must be stupid to help a taxi driver for nothing.
Another way of checking the passengers are good or not – is by talking with the passenger. For this case, the Indian male passenger was busy using his handphone to talk with his friend after the female Indian passenger alighted at Jln Gembira – (If you want to see the map, you can visit www.cabby.sg & click message- from cabby to cabby). He was using Indian language to talk with his friend except the road name in English which I understood.
I don’t have much time to talk to him. Few minutes before he alighted from my taxi, I did ask him that whether he wanted to pay to cash or credit card. He like others said he would pay by cash.
Sometime, I ask passenger the location of boarding & alighting point of taxi is whether it is the place where he or she is working or staying. Some passenger will tell you and talk with you friendly. From the talking, you can judge the passengers.

May not be, those in temple could be looking to become stars in newspaper or get a plague of commedation from the police, it will help them both in their temple name and their individual reputation. But knn end up empty handed, may hv to look for foot massage to massage the pain on their leg and foot, liao chor

Map just google it, why need to go cabby sg??
The most important is not how passenger is, it is how you reflect/prove yourself to passengers, if you had been looking fierce, talk with strength and power, that indian would had to think twice before running fare.
If you drive nite, you know most are clubbing goers or nite owl peoples with more rubbish than good, you do not need to so polite and nice, the initial asking is very critical, like me, see few ah nehs with tattoo boarding my cab,
"Hello, WHERE you want to GO!!! one stop ONLY ok!!"
you see their reaction like blur blur, then politely said, "Uncleee..can, we only need to go to buffalo street", even if they want to rob or run fare, still hv to think twice once I roll up my sleeve to show my Bak kua tattoo.
u say there 2 1 male and 1 female ....
so wat happen to the female ???

hmmm.......
The young Indian man acted very fast, he suddenly opened the taxi backseat door and ran away. If I stopped my taxi and immediately at that time using the center lock to lock the doors (this is one of the preventive measures I found out after the accident), then it may delay the Indian male passenger’s action. Because normally, passenger will pay first then proceed to open the door.
I should have locked the doors because I had the suspicion on this male passenger because by hearing his handphone conversation with his friend about the road name he mentioned at the time my taxi passing through. I should have the preparation of my next action at that time but I did not have that idea which I have it later.
Another mistake was at the time, when I took out my taxi key & switched on taxi hazard light, due to hurry, I forgot to close that door which the passenger opened. I remembered in the racing, I ranked number 4. The Indian male passenger rank number 1, followed by the those man number 2 & 3 from the temple (They heard my shouting and came out of temple to help me to chase the passenger). There were number 5 & 6 after me. During racing, I thought of my taxi without closing the door and without locked was another risk for me. So after running few block(aroung AMK Blk 222), I gave up chasing and proceed run back to my taxi. So the temple men also stop running.
This was the mistake I made, I should have closed all the taxi doors and locked the taxi first (that made me without worrying about the taxi and had more energy to racing) before I chased the passenger. Because the temple men would keep on chasing if I did not stop. And finally, may be the passenger would be caught and the justice was done. So by locking the taxi, that action may make my racing number was 6. But this was still OK because I was still in the racing.

Dear onecabby,
The more you post, the more it sound like a make up imaginary story to me (pardon me if I am wrong), but anyway, let play along with the CSI.
1. A culprit will always think and plan ahead of the victim, because he knows what he is going to do and act whereas you, the victim can only have suspicious.
2. When people wants to commit a run fare, what do you expect, slowly open the door, walk like an ah pek? or jog like an uncle me, he is sure to be ready to sprint. Even if you lock the door, so what, he can also flip the to open at his pax side.
3. Indian in Singapore are know to be good runner, and who on earth can anyone beat him? if the men from the temple or you were 1st, you would had caught him? Quite a funny statement here.
There is no mistake in you, for the last half an hour, you are thinking and planning the road with just a wary note on the paxs, but for that same half an hour, the pax is already thinking and planing on cheating you.
