the cake above (in my previous post) is already a leftover...
JDL,
By mail, I mean by mailing by post and not online email.
The cake is big enough for all to share.

Oh... okie...
But i reckoned if you got time to go down... LTA Sin Ming personally to register, may be faster than mailing by post.... furthermore, payment is needed right ?
Also tick the Bus Vocational Licence... if may come in handy.... dun have to pay extra for registering, but the course itself will course you $100 + $7 Gst. (total $107) for PHVL..
Anyway, it will normally takes 2 weeks before LTA replies you with a approval letter, and a medical checkup form.
You have to go to your estate's or nearest polyclinic to do your medical checkup including X rays.
JDL,
Yes I do have time, but prefer to do it by posting. I will be paying the $40 by cheque.
Hope to receive the approval letter in 2 weeks, then do the medical checkup, before going for the express course.
May I ask why you choose TD?

That cake was left over by pte limo, still got many other limo cab/van groups, follow by walkie groups, this groups and that groups, end up, people eat meat, I eat kut
The medical checkup should be around $44.70 including GST (that was what I paid in April 2011)... dun know got any changes now.
Had my TDVL for a long time, but dun have PHVL.... So, when I took the PHVL, have to pay another $40 to LTA to register. Waste of $$$. (PH = Private Buses Vocational Licence)...
To drive, PA, PC, PH, PZ.... you need this vocational licence.

bowah,
Since 2003, I quit my job and begin making money online. I am used to the freedom and don't have to report to anyone.
It was until 9th Feb 2012, Google decided to disabled my Adsense account. I have filed an appeal, waiting for their reply which could take another 4 weeks.
I am already 43. What can I do? I reckon it will be hard to find a job, compete with those FT, thus TD come into mind.

Yes...
at least Govt protected the basic jobs for the citizens...
Well, even if you are not actively driving Taxi... you may get one (TDVL) on standby...
My TDVL is on standby also...
Yes,
Luckily TD is for citizens only. Can't imagine what will happen if Govt allow FT to become TD.

I heard... some PRC whom turned Singapore PRs... then citizenship.... now driving taxis...
Is that a trick to turn them into citizen? So far, I haven't met one while taking Taxi.
trick ? unlikely lah...
maybe they got retrenched from their previous job which quaranteed them their Singapore PR status.
I see some foreigners doing pte limos too. Guess my pieces of cake is gone for good.
@ MMO69, from freelance to taxi Driving is not simple, but worth a try, hope you take it as your last resort and also as a contingent plan if all else do not work out for you.

PHVL doesn't restrict to foreigners (when I attended PH course, there are foreigners, from India, Malaysian there as well)... maybe they can only drive for Private Hired Bus, Private Bus... but not Excursion Bus... (where most of the Private Vitos & Toyota Hirace Hi-roof is categorised.)

@bowah, always good to have backup plan. If I have to start, I will start as a relief first.
