Hi guys!
I'm a writer thinking about doing an article based on the recent news mentioning the installation of cameras in taxis - which inadvertently led me to this forum when i was doing some research.
It would be awesome if you could give me some feedback about what uses these cameras are for? (Besides the usual reasons given by the taxi company, as I really only want to hear from the real taxi drivers with real life experiences).
Also, is it true that there are voice recorders in some taxis too? How would recording a conversation help? I read a couple of posts here saying that passengers run off without paying, and i really feel for you guys. So I'm curious if the voice recording will help to prevent passengers from running away since their voices are recorded?

mainly we instal for touch wood accident time used . Usually once accident occurs , its stories from both side , who right who.wrong talk no use , see.video. we never trust our lawyers or taxi companies , we have to protect ourself . Made our own arguments or debate. Taxi companies love saying 50-50.

in time like pax trying to run away taxi fare , we also cwn retrieve our video shots and captured their faces . And also if we were accused of like sex harassments inside cab . our cameras can also.record conversation . Like that also can protect us , cos u know how our police do work? Police in most molest or sex harassment case . men never win . So how ? We get something to show them , that woman can abuse those loop holes in our spore law.

remember when was at LTA recently
one pax complain against td, very strong and bad complain
lucky td shown camera recording as prove of wrong accuse, if not tdvl revoke
me planning to install a second one from the back soon

is this possible to use the camera as a proof to sue back the person who anyhow complaint when no such incident had occured? As i read on, if such incident happen to me, i would not be able to control my emotions,as my personality. i don't like being maligned

Maybe, weeks later... LTA & PTC officers need to come in....(survey on the industry... need to recommend more taxis ?)
Last but not least.... IRAS have to come in......
( do an average income on those HIGH FLYERs claiming to make $xxx amount )Pls review more on your revenue guys....!!!

case rest is good liao, why spend unnecessary going court? you won't get a single cent from sue. for some reason as inform by lta, don't do that.

Putting the camera is just to instill fear on pax not to run away without paying . Anyway the process to recover the cost takes about 6 months provided you have the details of the pax. If not its time to say goodbye to yr money.
For voice recording. Its just evidence to go against the pax's claim. Its that simple .

agree!but like Mr.pool case...if that fat CB say molest n we got nothing to proof we r innocent;we guy always at the loose side...HOW ...? -
our camera does not do 100% job like complain against us . In event like.pax accuse us of.longer route , we do not know.if they will lodge any complaints or.not ? By the time.taxi company call us , our memory overlap by other clips liao . Nothing to.prove. unless one has got different cards for different days. And keep them for a certain period of time.

for some drivers . they love to post their video clips upload into youtube also . Videos like errant drivers , reckless driving . etc

Taxis'companies installed camera are low end equipment....
If it is for your own private use... go ZMC (google search)... office cum workshop at Serangoon North Ave 5 (industry area). Value for $$$. Many of my kakis (Viano) go there to get it fixed.
Yes... you can see clearly even in the night hours... (provided the background is lighted).

My set got infrared LED. So even in total darkness, the cabin camera can still take videos of all passengers, including the driver. And record everything they say.

Those cameras sound pretty techy to begin with. Won't the older taxi drivers be complaining about using such technology stuff again? U know, like the nets machine and the computerized systems being introduced in the past.
Can I have some anonymous quotes from any older cab driver about their views on having to adapt to using cameras in their vehicle? (maybe just reveal your age will do)
