This is one of the new establishment featured recently in Sunday Times where people can go and sample tea. Feeling extremely bored today I popped in to have a feel of the place.
The decor of the place is nice, quiet and tranquil, cina without too much of being in-your-face, and wonderfully spacious.
I felt peckish, so I went for the high-tea set, which comes with 9 dimsum selection and 5 teas. Sadly, one cannot choose the teas:
2 greens - Longjing from Westlake, Zhejiang; Zhuyeqing from Sichuan
1 floral - Chrysanthemum buds with Goji berries
1 black - (they still consider it black! Beegeezus!) Pu'erh
1 oolong - Dahongpao from Wuyi city, Fujian
The dimsum selection is seriously Dian Xin in its presentation; not the 3 per bamboo basket sort, but simply 1 piece each, like a sampler, to touch the heart with a flutter of joy (not really) and not filling the stomach to bloating point. 2 pieces of dimsum each accompany 1 tea. The dimsum is not bad, though I find the hargao skin a tad too thick, and the wonton too spicy to go with the tea.
The tea selection. The 2 greens and the chrysanthemum are surprisingly good, the Zhuyeqing is fresh and lively with a lingering sweet floral aftertaste, the Longjing is subtle and nutty, the chrysanthemum calming. The pu'erh and oolong are great disappointment...

When the lady brought the green teas to the table, the teas were steeped in very hot water. I removed the lids off the gaiwans to cool the temperature and asked for separate cup to pour the tea into. She looked at me funny - but I'm not going to drink the tea Sichuan style by sipping the tea direct from the gaiwan and moving my tongue around to filter the leaves!
