I recently got samples of 2 interesting Pu-erh:
1992 XiaGuan Fangcha. I am not usually a fan of XG, but this one taste good.
1998 Lao Banzhang.
Let's give them a try.

Btw Kev, I still have the other samples. Not had time to try last weekend. Can keep and try another time.
Perhaps if you guys prefer a quieter location, we can meet at my office on one of the weekday afternoon. I have the complete works there to test the tea if need. The group is getting too big on Sunday to really test the tea fully.

We tried a few teas but did not get to the xzh. So you still can get to those.
Colin, leave you to do the spilling as the teas were mostly yours.

There are many types of tea. The ones that we are drinking are known as pu-erh. This particular genre of tea ages like wine and develops very complex flavours that are as intriguing as the best wines available. The current craze will be tea cakes that are thirty to fifty years old and the 50 year old cakes can cost as much as SGD18k. Another attractive side effect that this tea has is weight loss. Hence it is also known as a slimming tea.
As for the other teas like ti kuan yin, dong ding ooling, long jin, etc.. these you have to drink within a year or so when they are still fresh. Else they will not taste and smell good after that.

I'll stick to what Sebastian said, trying to understand this whole topic on what tea is good for ageing and what isn't will give one migraine...pu-erh - can keep. Others, not so ideal... -

We tried several teas last Sunday.
These are the ones I can recall:
1. 92 Xiaguan Fancha. Rather strong medicinal taste. Best way to brew it was hot, brief infusions
2. 98 Lao Banzhang (brick puerh, factory unknown) - pretty good review, has enough huigan
3. Shu Fenqin Tuo ? year - smooth and pleasant
4. Tie Guan Yin - nice break from Puerh -

ate at Tao before, the fruit tea is not bad. You can prepare it at home too, by making a small pot of sweet black tea, and pour it into a pitcher, throw in cut fruits to cover the black tea, and let it stand till cool, and add ice!
The difficult part is to know which fruits to compliment each other, but with some experimentation, you can't fail...try strawberry and nectarine for a start! -
