U can own hunting rifle there and even small arm if there is legitimate reason. The law in east a bit more relax, coz i know afew fren there own rilfe at home. there is more native there and it is less populated. Comparing the area to population ratio of the east and west m'sia, it is a lot harder for the police force to be so effective there. Dun have to look far to see the effectiveness of their law enforcer, just look north across our border. No apart from SAF and local boo boos when we're attacked, I think Singapore has a line of strange foreign tribal men with long hair going on the front line before our own men go on the frontline. I just found out from my malaysia colleague tat west and east malaysia can apply for rifles if u have a certain amount of plantation ... to protect yrself from wild animals....

What if you don't have plantation and no valid reason for protection?
