SINGAPORE: Singapore has improved its world ranking for customer service, jumping five places to clinch the 10th spot this year, said Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong.
The ranking is in the Global Competitiveness Report, which is a yearly report published by the World Economic Forum. Singapore was ranked 15th in 2007 and 26th in 2006.
Mr Gan was speaking at the Excellent Service Award presentation ceremony for the hospitality industry on Monday.
He added that while the near—term economic outlook may be somewhat uncertain, the government is optimistic that Singapore’s tourism sector will continue to grow over the medium to long term.
The Singapore Tourism Board is targeting 17 million visitor arrivals by 2015 under the Tourism 2015 Plan, and Mr Gan feels what lies ahead are exciting times for Singapore’s tourism industry.
