How time flies

Hi to all my fellow AJcians who are lkg
at my msg.
I'm from the batch 34/87. So u can imagine
how "old" i am now. I still reminisce those
years as a carefree teenage, those first pangs of "puppy" love, skipping lectures and all those silly things that teens do to rebel.
Life as an adult brings me independence and
freedom, but it also brought me a lot of other things. I worry about where my "career" is heading, financial burdens,
etc. To be frank, in times of despondence &
despair, it was my happy childhood and those silly teenage years that sustain me. Looking
back, i'd not have done a lot of things if
i could do it all over again.
So to all those out there who moans abt
the college, yes, to a certain extent, the college sucks. esp now. it neither has a
strong sport & esprit de corp culture nor
sterling performance in the exams-always 6th
in position and not moving an inch up... this is called stagnant. But then, yr life is what u make out of it. Enjoy your 2 years in AJC, it can't be all that bad. 2 years (in fact, it's even shorter)is a a short time and will passed by u in a twinkling of an eye. I should know. Study hard but play hard too. Get to know yr classmates better (i regret not knowing mine well enough).Very soon u will be initiated into adulthood. And
a lot of other burdens will come yr way. So
seize the day and live yr life in college to the fullest. Remeber u decide whether yr life in AJ is going to be a memorable one or
a forgettable one - not the principal, not the sch... if the sch sucks, play a proactive role to jazz up with activities ... liaise with sch authorities etc.

hi! im also a senior, from class of 95 (we donated the benches near the pond..hee..)
me in NUS, graduating in half a year's time...NUS is fine, but i miss my days in AJC more. U are rather much alone in NUS, and u dun get to see the same faces so often...u have to find r own clique or else u are pretty much alone. I miss the days in AJ, when we have AJ carnival, sports day, swimming carnival, cross country..etc...yes, we may moan and grumble when we had to participate, but thinking back, i really miss those times...
Its true that there is really nothing great abt AJC, neither excelling in sports or studies, somewhere always stuck in the middle...but i thk wat i miss most abt my JC days were the friends...they really made a difference to my time in school. its diff now, in the Uni, where people go about doing their own stuff, not much of 'comrade-ship', we are all rather individualistic now, quite difficult to find a group of kakis to have fun after school or even during school time.
No matter how bad school was, my friends' presence always made school bearable
The 2 years in AJC was gone so, so fast...its really up to each person to appreciate what u have now...i thk watever JC u go to, there is aways something sucky abt it...bt try to stop the grumbling and appreciate the moment now...it will be gone forever once u grad, and believe me...2 years is very very short a time...
So, those still studying in AJC...enjoy youselves..wish i was in ur shoes man... -

Me there in 93, first three months. I stay in Boon Lay so can't tahan the daily journey. Went to Hwa Chong after 3 months. Have very fond memories of AJ though...Odac, basketball, carrom, orientation, friends are friends forever, AJ ice, Interact club, all the fun n laughters! Sometimes I wonder what will happen if I stayed on... Got a few close girlfriends in AJ when I left.

Ding, 3 mths is very short, ur experience is diff fr those who stayed 2 yrs in aj.
surprise to c ken fr 87 batch post a msg here, i tot most of those who come to this forum are in U or jc now, since the forum started in 99.
quite true , most of our friens in future will be those fr jc, since u dun make much close friens in nus,unless u
1. stay hall
2.in engrg
3.join fac club activities

most have lost touch with sec friens, coz too long ago & big class. -
Yes Ding, im from AJC...glad u enjoyed the activities organized by ODAC..must be the nite hike rgt? im from ODAC as well, but as u r 2 batches b4 me, u wouldnt know me...
Boon Lay is pretty far to get to AJC...can imagine u sleeping all the way on the mrt... -
Yup! I remember ODAC fondly. The nite hike and solo walk was a nice experience. Normally from Boon Lay I will take the MRT or Bus 852 to get to AJ. Takes around 2 1/2hr to n fro. This is one of the main reason I went to HCJC.
