So You Think Art School Is Easy?

If you have a friend or a cousin in art school, have some understanding that it's not a course that 'no need brains one'.
We're very busy people but at least we get to do what we like, even if there's something to hand in every day.
It'll only get even more hectic in the world outside.

I beg to differ on the " no need brains " part .. you need to design and that drains a lot of brain juice..

Every course has its pros and cons.
So U cant compare the difficulty of an engineering course to a design or a business course.
its like comparing a apple and a orange. -
so I guess you must be a lazy bum for ppl to classify your course as what you mentioned...

Hey KB, if you ever need a good critique of your work, esp if you've got a mixed-media portfolio or a photojournalistic one, go find Shyam Tekwani. IIRC, he's still in SCI, but sometimes he hangs around SADM.

Who say arts no need use brain.
i arts student myself, and arts students are always cracking their brains for creative projects and ideas.
Its much much much more straneous then your science or engineering, coz we have no formulae to follow. We got to crack our brain EVERYTIME. -
I see it this way....
I know nuts about art, and you know nuts about engineering.
So at the end of the day, we all know nuts about something. -

specific orders even though u hav double checked n input the correct commands or so..hav u?

tats when the 5 W 1 H comes in..
furthermore these ppl also nid to tink of innovative ways tat can somehow cut cost n fully utilize its ability..
in short, every tough tinks also not easy to deal wif la..
n dun say until ur jobscope like so super hard..

Or maybe i didnt phrase well.
Even before mechanics can work on their machine, its the arts people working together with the others to come up with the machines. So how can u say safely say arts students knows nuts.
Things like commands, machinese all that are dead when finalized, so there definitely will be a certain procedure to follow. What i try to say is, if something is the problem, that will be the problem and it will not change.
In arts, its contemporary, in science and mechanics, its not until new things come about.
I not saying other things are easy, just that i also kena look down before as arts student and labeled as, know nuts about other things.
Not trying to be offensive ah.. Coz me is just small part design and visual arts, i mostly into literature arts. -

we have no fomula, no back up plans, to earn money. We often wished that there was a fomula that we could use, but no such luck. so those busy memorising fomulas, count your blessings.
and if what i heard about the working world is right:

If a machine goes wrong, chances are that, someone will follow a certain procedure to check for problem, then pinpoint on the problem, then fix that problem, then the 5W and 1H comes in.
If an visual art pieces goes wrong, chances are that its gone forever. Same for literary arts. -

I believe arts school requires the continuous flow of one's creative juices and that, in itself, is pretty tough. And when you need to be creative and you lack inspiration, it's darn stressful when you have deadlines to meet as well....
Nope, I dun think arts school is easy.
but hey, at least some arts students get to see real-life nudes for free! Everyone else has to pay wor!

Creativity isn't the only thing you need - you need observational skills, whether it's being sensitive to a problem or noticing proportions, light and curves.
Life drawing is no free show when you're trying to put lines on the paper in anything from 15 minutes to 30 seconds. You get women AND men of all shapes and sizes, and staying still for prolonged periods is tiring for them.
I'd like to have a go at my classmate's boyfriend for claiming that she's making herself too busy for him. -

n i hav said earlier, i hav seen wad my cousin struggled in her sch work too..
n there were times when i also help her to tink of ideas too..
therefore not everytink is so easy to do de..
as to why these ppl look down on others, i tink..
is because they r not pros in ur workscope..
therefore wad dey see is only at the surface of the water of ur work..
n vice versa..
n saying abt formulas...
ya its true tat by applying formulas/commands, the specific machine can work to ur specs..
but den, b4 hand these ppl hav to fully understand how this formula/command came abt..
n wad can be done to fully improved its performance or end results..
inshort, dun look down on others as long as they're doing their job..
its better not to offend ppl la -

So what you are saying then, is that it is not ok for other people to generalize and criticize art students, but it is ok for art students to do the same?
I know you are into art, but ffs man! The rennaissance happened a long time ago! Haven't you heard, logic and rationality is kinda popular now.
