i find this Justice Choo opinion smart and right and his argument is basically along the lines of philosophers.....
i think that the world is mostly filled with people who are not equipped with sufficient knowledge. the reasons for the lack of intelligent people are aplenty ranging from poverty, crimes, technology, materialism and others.
title: law and morality in the age of biosecience
author: the honorable justice choo han teck
some paragraph quotes from straits time paper:
"the central refrain of the book is an encouragment for us to reflect calmly and logically about bioethical concerns. Here, justice choo exhorts us to subject all our views - whether secular or religious - to critical examination. as he puts it : "if, indeed, there is a star upon which we ought to fix our gaze, that star must be reason itself." This could not be timelier reminder in the light of the recent and vigorous debates on organ trading, the removal of organs upon one's death .........
"....Justice Choo 's call for us to remain objective and to continually seek proof and analyse such proof without bias or superstition has application outside the bioehtical realm. Discrimination, for instance, is often the result of unreflective, unexamined personal prejudice. As Choo reminds us, "sincerity and strength of belief are mistaken for objectivity when it is quite the opposite".
