I mean if you did'nt believe in a supreme divine being that is the creator of your existence than you obviously would'nt belief in a judgement day or karma. And that leads to you concluding that any action would'nt be moral because there is no repercussion to it.
And what's the point in living? Since there's no God who created you, that means your existance has no purpose. How are you going to derive a meaning for your existance?

Not true. I have no belief in god, but I do believe in being kind to everything around you. Morals are something u have, it happens when u think "what if it happens to me?, will I love it?". I have no fear of judgement day or anything like that, because I know what matters is now, treat everything as you would like to be treated, and others will be happy. You will feel good at the same time.
It does not matter if there is a god at the end who gives you some sweets or punishes you, what matters is now. Do good now, and dun expect anything when u die.
And by your logic, God believers should not be committing crimes then, but this is not true, so are you going to tell me they are fake believers, or their fear has not enough power to overcome their greed/lust?

So long as you are happy living, and does not cause distress in other beings thats all. You die, you died.
Who can tell you your purpose anyway except yourself?

Hi whiskers, your train of thought is like Judaism. Would u like to know more about Judaism? Except for the 'dun believe in God' part, all your thought are so Jewish, as in Judaism.
To TS,
I think you are quite stupid. So having a god in life means people will have a meaning in their lives. SO what? SO many god-believers continues to live a shitty and f--ked up life with many enemies and hatred in their life and according to you, these kind of people have a meaningful existence.
The meaning of one's life comes from within oneself, based on common society values as well as your unqiue situations. God is never part of the equation. People who put god as their cornerstone of their meaning of their life is sadly leading themselves into endless maze of search that leads to nowhere but eventually still die like every living thing. Which is the decomposition of the human body and the release of nitrates products to be recycled into the environment again.
On what basis do you say a atheist life is meaningless just because there is no god in his life. Just one rational reason will do. Just give me one.

how is his train of thought similar to Judaism?
I am scared, not because i am atheist. I am scared because the world is still filled with so many god-fearing people. It just like a person who dares not go out of his house because he fears that there is evil monster outside.

i quote: "Assuming atheism is true then ultimately life's inexorable goal is to make the best of it before its end. An atheists life is only as long as he lives it,he has nothing better/worse beyond it. So an atheist's life is relatively and situationaly not meaningless, but ultimately it is."

That's a very interesting paragraph of words you got there...
So are you (or the person who said this) saying that those who believe in god will ultimately have a meaningful life even though, like january had said, that god-believer lived a shitty life?
If yes, tell me about his meaningful life as in how meaningful can it be? Or can it be by believing in god till the end of life itself is something meaningful?

You are not an atheist. You will not challenge God and you dare not challenge Satan.
i believe in the flying spaghetti monster

Well, seeing that you are the first one who put up, "no insults"

My adjectives already very controlled. its not amounting to insults. Internet needs abit of freedom of scolding, but with reason and civil-mindedness still.
Words like stupid, shitty, f--ked up, if used properly is nice and good in the internet.
Besides , i used these words sparingly.
clever boy. But you don't scold everyone who disagrees right?

get the hell outta singapore YID! we got rid of david marshall. you parasites have no place in our society.
Do you live for God, or you live for yourself?
atheist only have one choice, and it is definitely the better choice
I think you are quite stupid. So having a god in life means people will have a meaning in their lives.
Yes. Then from a theist existentialist point of view, if a supreme being created life, he must have created them for a purpose. And we can try to seek meaning in life and the creation of our existence.
If there is no supreme divine intelligent designer, and a single celled organism just supposedly sprung into life with gaseous exchange just because of some chemical mixtures. Then youre denying a definite reason for existence. And you're taking up absurdism.
SO what? SO many god-believers continues to live a shitty and f--ked up life with many enemies and hatred in their life and according to you, these kind of people have a meaningful existence.
Having hatred or living a subjective perspective "shitty" life does'nt mean they seek purpose or strive to live by it.
Believing or acknowledge in the existence of a supreme being is one thing and seeking the reason of your existence is another thing.
And these people have never sat down and pondered on why they exist. Being labeled into a religious category or practicing a religion without questioning or understanding does'nt mean anything.
The meaning of one's life comes from within oneself
So you say the we create our own meanings? Thats called absurdism.
based on common society values as well as your unqiue situations.
You're an individualism antagonist.
God is never part of the equation. People who put god as their cornerstone of their meaning of their life is sadly leading themselves into endless maze of search that leads to nowhere but eventually still die like every living thing.
Its a search worth trying. Either you find it or don't . But you would have spent your lifetime seeking the truth.
Which is the decomposition of the human body and the release of nitrates products to be recycled into the environment again.
Biology. Biologically speaking I was meant to an omnivorous ape that would fall prey to tigers and lions.
On what basis do you say a atheist life is meaningless just because there is no god in his life. Just one rational reason will do. Just give me one.
Comes back to my starting point. If there is a supreme being who created you, he must have done it for a purpose. And if there is no purpose, you fall into an existence of nothingness. Where you try to create your own purpose which does'nt allign to the grander scheme of things. And you subscribe to a sort of self-deception.

Depends on your ideology. Different religions have different beliefs. I am an agnostic theist. I believe in a supreme being based on intelligent design after studying a very paradoxical microscopic single celled organism that had a flagella when it had no reason to have one based on darwinian theory of evolution. And all of life on earth today sprouted out of that flaw. I belive in evolution not creationism. But I believe that the first paticles fit to be called life was put on earth by God.
I am not talking about fear in terms of fear of God, like the fear the Israelites had after Moses destroyed the Tablets and God punished them.
I am talking about the fear that is the emotion after realising that there is purpose in life.

I take it that you mean which religion deals with the subject of direct repercussions based on your actions during your lifetime.
Buddhism, Hinduism and I belie Taosim and Islam do to a certain extent.
