  The Taliban claims that South Korea paid a USD$20 million ransom for the South Korean hostages, a claim that South Korea vehemently denies.

  The backlash also appears to be growing again. The govt is toying with the idea of having the hostages pay the cost of their rescue - at least for airfare and medical support reflecting popular sentiment that it was the hostages own fault that they were kidnapped.

  Well there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports. South Korea is very insistent that they did not pay anything. But then again, they would need to say that. Saying otherwise would open them up to even more criticism.
  
  i read a report as well that a Taliban spokesperson agreed that no money changed hands. However, I figure in this case, the truth doesn't really matter and they just haven't decided what story they want to tell.

  Actually no one knows that 20 million has been paid out. All we know is that some reporter claims that 20 million has been paid out.
  
  But if 20 million has been paid out then the South Korean Government needs to be told to fuck off. 20 million can buy a shit load of small arms, expertise and IEDs. If they have paid 20 million, then they are selfish pricks that should be castigated and sanctioned.
  
  And those stupid fools that went around travelling on a bright yellow bus in the middle of a warzone? Some jail time and huge fines might not be out of order.

  Religious zealots are foolhardy. They risk their lives for their gods and end up doing stupid things. If Christian god can create this world, he doesn't need his creatures to do anything for him. Just imagine, if you have all the power of creation, why would need your boliao ka-kia to do things for you???? Worst they mess things up!!
  
  Now that the hostages have returned home ..... and they start to thank god, say it was a gift of life. Some said they went to Afghanistan to share love. What logic???? If it were so good or great, how come the Talibans didn't buy them?

  It is by this 'gospel truth' that South Koreans and many missionaries continue to fool-hardy.
  Basic truth: why would a god who can create this world need humans to do his biddings or work!!!!! Think - don't just quote the bible.
