If you claim to be a "thinker" please tell me what you think or Buddhism or Christianity or some other religion of your choice? I need a detailed commentary. I do not want some shallow quotes. That would prove that you are a freethinkerOriginally posted by Darkness_hacker99:I am a freethinker because I am a freethinker.

If you can write so well with such clarity of thought because of Buddhism, you are a credit to Buddhism.
Actually what you have written or said is what Buddhism, you believe or is commonly considered as, is.Huh?
But for you personally, how did you end up studying Buddhism?Pretty much the same way as Eric Cartman did Nah, just kidding. I became a Buddhist at two years old when I took refuge.. became more interested about 3, 4 years ago and thats when I started to visit my dharma center regularly.
You still haven't answered my qn..Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:I know what it is for me but I want to hear what it is for other people.
You don't say I would have guessed as much, that you were brought up as a Buddhist since a child. Very "dangerous" for you because you have never been exposed to any other teaching. You cannot understand the subtleties.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Pretty much the same way as Eric Cartman did Nah, just kidding. No worries since I am very clear about the problems of other teachings.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:You don't say I would have guessed as much, that you were brought up as a Buddhist since a child. You merely know, or think you know. Know =/= insight or enlightenment.Originally posted by Eric Cartman:Now that I've seen what luminosity is for myself I'm convinced.
Ever heard of Decartes going to the bar?Originally posted by Darkness_hacker99:
What about life itself? Are you clear about the problems with "living?" Anyway if you had just finished your "O" level, you will be encountering real-life soon. I hope you don't escape or end up in the other extreme. You are very young. I "worry" for you. I hope you have a good teacher.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:No worries since I am very clear about the problems of other teachings.

Not exclusive here means each religion is not like a block of solid things that you can't mix. Like extreme christianity.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Only Buddhism accurately describes reality and use the appropriate practises to attain enlightenment. i.e other religions only have Shamatha practises, no Insight practises. Furthermore other religions and philosophies fall into extremes like eternalism or nihilism. The Buddha refuted or shunned all the 60+ philosophies and religions at his time with the middle way, emptiness, dharma seals, and all the Buddhadharma.
Only Buddhism teaches the middle way/Emptiness free from erroneous dualistic concepts, Interdependent Origination, 3 Dharma Seals or 3 Characteristics of Existence or the 4 Seals. These teachings sets Buddhism completely apart from other religions -- Buddhism is 'THE WAY' to enlightenment and liberation.
It is my way because I choose to interpret it this way.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Please don't anyhow anyhow... are you sure that "I think therefore I am" can be interpreted this way?
Thanks for the link.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Descartes is perhaps the most misunderstood western philosopher.
This might be interesting for you, "I AM" being the primal, primordial reality of Descartes, that all religions - hindu, christian, muslim, taoist, etc etc, and all mystic traditions, and vedanta (hindu non duality) talk about.
(Though in Buddhism we are still more advanced than that, because 'I AM' still fall into the fault of the duality of eternalism and nihilism, there is not necessarily the insight of true non duality which Ken Wilber did mention later as well)

So is sleeping or waking up your meditation? And what kind of insights? Buddhist insights doesn't mean suddenly understanding things or how things work.. it's not knowing something new or suddenly making sense of things mentally/conceptually.Originally posted by Eric Cartman:Sleeping is my meditation. The moment when I just woke up is the time the insight comes.

Insight that luminosity is mind. Why can't sleeping be a meditation when sitting meditation is also just sitting there with a quiet mind? Thusness also said that sleeping is the deepest samadhi.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:So is sleeping or waking up your meditation? And what kind of insights? By the way sleeping can't be a meditation. It is only at stage 5++ that we can propel non dual into all phases.
Religions are already mixed whether you like it or not. All teach about love for example. I also said that I will only take out whatever is useful from each.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Put it plainly, you can't mix. But you can respect.
