NokScoot, partly owned by SIA's Scoot, will start flying in 1Q 2015
Scoot's new joint-venture carrier in Thailand will start operations in the first quarter of next year, said NokScoot on Thursday.
NokScoot, jointly owned by Singapore Airlines' long-haul budget arm Scoot and Thai carrier Nok Air, will operate medium to long-haul flights with the Boeing 777-200 aircraft from Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport.
Industry veteran Piya Yodmani, with about 20 years of experience at Thai Airways and Nok Air, has been appointed chief executive officer of the airline.
Mr Piya said: "The current competition in the low-cost airline market is intense, with passengers having a wide variety of choices for destinations and airlines. This is the current challenge for low cost airlines which we keep in mind." NokScoot will offer travellers the "highest value for their fare", he added.
