Tiger Airways orders 50 more Airbus A320 aircraft

Tiger Airways has ordered 50 more Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing the total fleet to 70.
The airline says this makes it one of the region's largest A320 operators.
The latest order, scheduled for delivery from 2011 onwards, costs about US$4 billion.
Tiger Airways is one of the largest budget carriers in Southeast Asia.
It already operates a fleet of nine A320s and, before the latest announcement, has 11 on order for delivery by 2010.
The A320s will be deployed on the airline's network in Southeast Asia.
It will also include Tiger Airways' new domestic services within Australia, set to start later this year. - CNA/ch -

The battle of the low cost carriers continues to heat up with Tiger Airways ordering up to 50 extra Airbus A320s for its upcoming launch into the Australian domestic market as rival Jetstar increases its services.
Tiger used the Paris Air Show to fire another salvo at Jetstar, signing a Memorandum of Understanding for 30 additional Airbus A320s with a further 20 options. The deal will boost its fleet of nine A320s with 11 more on order.
Tiger chief executive Tony Davis said the new A320s would be deployed around the airline's regional network in South East Asia, including Australia when it begins domestic services later this year.

As for the registry, I still dont know whether they will be 9V or aussie.. wait n see.. -
It will a VH tail because it is running on Australia AOC!

And now Tiger introduces Pay-As-You-Use In-Flight Entertainment systems, for flights between Singapore, Darwin and Perth. The IFE system costs SG$18/AU$12 per console.

Isn't A320 a bit of, erm, older model?...
I would rather the Boeing 737-900ER, but sounds like Tiger is Airbus fleet, hmm...
Maybe they complement entire fleet with same model so parts can be easier to exchange...
Hope they can prosper with the new fleet in 2012 onwards...
