The unconfirmed official talk was that 757 did not meet it's advertised specifications.Originally posted by SBS3625D:What happened to them? And why were their services cut short?

Singapore Airlines are very quick in phasing out planes that did not meet their requirements.
757 is one.
The other being MD-11.
And there was some talk that the Airbus 340-300 too. That's why singapore used it for very short time.

Although Batam is usually the alternative airport if airlines have to divert.
It is because of Paya Lebar Airport that our skyscrapers cannot exceed 280m.

If memory serves, Concorde was more of a 'prestige product' for both British Airways and Air France. The plane never made a profit flying scheduled routes, and never recouped its monumental development costs (which were mostly paid for and written off by the British and French governments). It only became mildly profitable for British Airways during the later years of its operational life, when it was used for charters.Originally posted by dennoc:A normal subsonic service took around 7-8 hours to fly from London to New York, but Concorde's did it in an average of 3.5hours
If Singapore to London is 14 hours on a normal plane, than I guess it might be probably 8-9hours on Concorde, almost half the time.

If security environment requires it, the plane will usually land at Paya Lebar.
Also Paya Lebar is also a regional maintenance depot.
When Air Force had an open house some years back, i saw a Pakistani Airline plane undergoing repainting.
