AirAsia X plans to launch in July with services from Kuala Lumpur to Tianjin and Hangzhou in China and from Kuala Lumpur to the UK, says Fernandes.
He says the Malaysian government has granted AirAsia X traffic rights to Birmingham and Manchester, and that it was looking at granting rights to London.
Fernandes says they are considering the A330-300 and Boeing 777-300ER for AirAsia X, which will operate only one aircraft type. He describes AirbusÂ’ A330 replacement, the A350XWB, as the perfect aircraft for AirAsia X. However, he adds that they are first looking at the A330 as the A350XWB is a new aircraft type under development and will only be available in later years.
So its the A330 vs the 777-300ER.

How much cheaper will be the tickets?
I am not confident of taking a budget airline all the way to the UK. Call me paranoid, but I believe that the safety factor is one huge issue they have to face when trying to convince potential customers. -

The drinks and stuff are all right with me it is the safety that I am concrened about

from a logistician's point of view.
i've always been afraid of commercial flight, whether its SIA or AirAsia.
frankly i trust our C130, Fokker50, Super Puma and Chinooks more.
but honestly, when its time to go down, its time to go down.
all i can say is that an aircraft is easy to crash but it isn't easy for it to crash also. -
i wonder when thai airasia is gonna swap to the airbus.

Air Asia are already switching over to the A320s.. so pretty soon we shld expect the 737s to go from all of its subsidaries too.
hmm, kopi looking at regulations right now, i doubt u can bring ur own liquid on board especially flights to the UK. -

But with this longhual stuff, the 777 is a huge leap from the A330.
The airbus dosent have enough juice to go all the way to UK.. but with a stop in dubai as stated, it can do it with ease...
i also think that FAX woould go with the airbus.. but i may be proven wrong. -

Airbus will die die bend over for the deal, even if it means a cut in their profits. Happened before with one of the russian airlines.

Eh, I read one of the airbus planes..has a 'freezer'. Its for people who accidentally die during longhaul flights so can preserve the body until touchdown.
Boeing got similar thing?
